My Leatherman Super Tool 200 has been at my side for a little over 1 year now, still intact and functioning, but I think its time to sharpen the blades.I am not familiar with the SOG.

I am rough on tools... very rough. The only ones I don't break are the Schrades. They are bigger than the rest, but worth the bulk.
Sadly, Schrade just closed its doors, so if yiou want one better get it now. The PX here ar Leonard Wood still has em in stock. |

I like 12" Vice grips. Then there is the oxyacetylene torch. And the pound of C-4. True multi-purpose tools.

That and it just feels more sturdy. I had a Leatherman that I thought was going to twist while I used the pliars. |

+1 for the Schrade. I've had mine for over 4 years and I abuse the hell out of it. I've broken several leatherman, and one gerber. The schrade is definately made well and hasn't let me down yet.

I have 2 gerbers i have abused the hell out of for almost 7 years now. they are used daily and hard. Niether has failed. Being able to open one handed is a major plus. mike |

I have a Gerber and this damn thing got me out of a lot of tight situations!!!!!!! No, but it is a damn good quality multi-purpose tool. Got it a Wally world with a two AA Maglite for about less than 40 bucks. Both still working fine after three years service.

The Gerber legend series is good to go, the best part is the wire cutting blades, they are tungsten cutters that can be rotated as the ones in use dull and once you worn all 3 cutting edges out, you replace them. As some who has had to cut allot of slash wire, this is a real saver. The steel in slash wire will wear a set of multitools out in no time, this allows you to get a much longer life out of your pliers.

I really liked my Victornox Swiss tool. That thing is build like a TANK.
But I just picked up a Leatherman Charge Ti, and so far I REALLY like it. |

I have used the following tools over the last several years:
SOG, decent tool, no real complaints. Schrade, decent but, rather bulky. Leatherman Wave, it is what I am presently using. It seems to have stood up to what I have sought from it to date. |

I like my Leatherman®. The design of the handle makes it hard to really put he-man type pressure on the pliers but that keeps me from breaking them.
Trivia Question. Does anyone know how the Leatherman got its name? |

I've got an older Super Leatherman, I'm not too keen on the blade lock,
I do carry my Gerber tool everytime I put on my uniform. It serves me well |

I carry my Leatherman snowboarding, because it fits all of the nuts and bolts on my board. When I go shooting or off roading, I carry my Kershaw multi-tool vise grip. The vise grip function has saved me when I had no wrench.

I've been carrying a SOG Paratool everyday since 8th grade. It was a birthday gift from my parents, so that would have been February 1996. It's been good to me.

Tim Leatherman, I believe. Spoke to him a few years ago at either the SHOT or IACP show about getting some WAVEs made up with my agency’s name engraved on it. He spent most of the conversation complaining about other firms marketing his idea – seemed to be a real sore point with him!! |

So does the Rebel Alliance issue multitools to X-wing pilots, or do you have to purchase your own? How does it go with your orange coveralls? How does Admiral Ackbar use a multitool with those claws of his? Or is it just a trap? |

Yeah, Tim Leatherman has sued a couple of companies for ripping off his idea and won. BTW: Leatherman has discontinued many of the older models and is being replacing them with multi-tools of newer design and better materials. Check out the Leatherman web site at www.leatherman.com |

just picked up a kershaw today on closeout at sears for 33.95. looks to be well made and designed. have a leatherman micra and used to have one of the superleathermans. i think this is far better.
