I am looking for a good price on a gun safe.   I need something that will hold about 50 long guns and 15 pistols.  I would really like to keep the cost at around $1000 dollars less freight.  Another option I am considering is a vault door.  I have a area in my basement that has been blocked off and built into a 2 shower like stall.  Reminds me of a locker room shower.  I could build racks inside it and put a vault door on the outside and have all of the room I would ever need plus plenty room for expansion.

Wal-Mart. Saw a full size Winchester gun safe the other day for $550.00. If I didn't all ready have one, it would be mine

A safe to hold that much, unless you want to pull everything out of the safe, and put all the guns in socks there is nothing out there that I would call a safe. Now a locker.. try some of the big stores, aka walmart. They should have somthing.

I bought a winchester safe from Sams Club 2 or 3 years ago,  I believe it can hold around 20 rifles and there is a top shelf for pistols and other stuff.  It has a good fire rating and is really nice I beleieve it was 699 or 799.  But well worth the money.  The same one at cabelas sells for 1200.  Good luck.

I'd go with the vault door. Just make sure the walls and ceiling of the vault are not easy to go through. Also, make sure your basement has no moisture problems.

I called Liberty Safe a few years back about a vault door.  They only sell through their distributors.  The best price that I could find on a delivered door was about $4000.

Just how heavy are those Wal-mart safes?  My concern would be getting it to my house, lifting it up stairs, and making sure my floor could handle the weight - might have to brace the flooring from underneath.

It was $699 when I bought mine (11/22 gun) a year ago, and I really like it.  It's as solid as safes costing twice as much.  UL listed RSC, S&G group 2 lock, etc.  If Wal-mart is selling it for $550, that's a screaming deal.  2 of those would about cover you.

I've been very happy with my Sams Club Winchester safe.
It's like less than half the price of the other ones and I dion't see where they are less of a safe.
