Beautiful capture and DVD quality..I see they redid the saber fight.....no more off-blue and red glass rod looks.
Oh and the "cool TIE-Fighter noise" was moldeled after the WW2 Stuka Dive Bomber noise. As was the German helmet designs and european accents the empires officers had....i did a paper in college on this. |
Damn....
I had it in my hand today, and I said, "Nah. I'll get it later..." Now you've got me regretting it! |
Watching the scene with Vader entering the ship among all the smoke while watching the movie in the theater will always stick with me. It was the coolest. I think I was about twelve at the time.
BTW, I liked Corvette Summer. The black Trans Am with the Formula hood and side pipes was SAWEET. |
Just finished it and Empire Strike Back. Ahhh the memories. I just wish they didn't renumber them cause there is not fucking way I'm getting Phantom Menace or whatever that second piece of crap was called. |
Yeah but you would have been about 14 so how would you know if it sucked. |
I was 12 when this movie came out. Saw it on opening day.
Those who were that age or older will remember that most movies (and the general post-Vietnam cultural ambience) back then were anti-heroic and dwelt on how bad things were. Fighting was portrayed as futile. You were going to lose, period. Star Wars totally reversed that. It was positive. Fighting for what you believed in was OK. That last scene with the heroes getting the medals would have been laughable and unthinkable in most Hollywood products. Thank you George Lucas. |
Amen. It was the best o the three....
Please! I'm not even over the fact that Han and Greedo fire at each other and that the grand douchbag Christensen shows up at the end of Jedi. Don't even get me started on the other three which, aside from the saber duels, suck tauntaun balls.... |

That's me playing America's Army... |

DAMMIT WHERES MY PRINCESS LEIA IN THE GOLD BIKINI?! |
Watching the fourth disc with the documentary was very interesting. I had never seen the footage of Prowse without James Earl Jones dubbed over him before. I definitely think it was a good call overdubbing, because he just didn't have the type of voice that made Vader menacing.
Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas... |
Anyone notice in number three one of the dancers tits pops out briefly?
Great stills and I see that you watched the "extra" DVD. Fascinating to hear Darth Vader speaking in a whiney English accent and to hear Chewbacca speaking English! Also interesting that the blasters made a popping noise!
I could be mistaken but I think "Star Wars" was labled "Episode IV" when I saw it in theaters in 1977. |
IIRC, the first movie was relabled "Episode III - A New Hope" after it was re-released in theaters.
The original release was simply "Star Wars". |
Thats IV. |
Granted that ep1 and 2 sucked sandpeople balls, I will eventually buy ep2 just for the crazy ass yoda lightsaber battle.
That got my blood pumping like the first time I heard the mortal kombat theme in Dolby Digital with a big ass bucket of popcorn. |

every time i turn on a trash compactor... |

I've had the DVD set for about 4 years now, only issue with mine is the Korean sub-titles

SteyrAug,
We must be about the same age! My birthday was yesterday and I got the Trilogy as one of my presents! BigDozer66 |
First movie I remember seeing in the theater. I was 7.
I took my oldest daughters to see the re-release on the big screen, opening day. Very good memories both back in the late 70s and now! CH |
I set my computer at work so that every morning when I turn it on Vader says "What is thy bidding, my master?"
And it wasn't relabled! |

Rip and reauthor. |

I downloaded the 1977- trilogy last week and they're going to DVD as soon as my blanks show up in the mail. Trying to find the 1997 trilogy... Already bought the 2004 trilogy. I wonder how much more Lucas will "update" it when he put them to HD-DVD. |

A buddy of mine will use his DVD burner to put the THX version on discs.
We both own the THX version, so copyright isn't a problem. We just each want a copy for archival purposes, so that we can show our children and grandchildren the REAL Star Wars, without Greedo shooting first The stupid and lame "Jabba, you're a wonderful human being" scene "Prepare my Star Destroyer for my arrival" instead of "Bring my shuttle!" The stupid ring around the exploding Death Star I'll pay the $7.50 to see Epissode III, but it's just for a sense of completeness. I'm certain it will be awful. |
Yes. Furthermore, when Han cops a feel when Leia is hit by blaster fire on the Endor Moon. He grabs her to pull her up and he gives her a reach around. |
EVERY damn time I hit the button in my car to activate/deactivate the cruise control, I hear "Luke, what's wrong, you've switched off your targeting computer." |

I credit the original 3 Star Wars movies as my inspiration to learn to draw... which lead to what I do now for a living. I was utterly blown away by each of the movies in different ways... and have been hoping for a DVD release of them since I got a player. This is a long time in coming, and I really look forward to popping them in the player, new scenes and all. I heard they added the Biggs scenes back in -- I had a kid's SW Storybook back in the day and it had the Biggs plotline in it, but when I saw the flick I was like "Where's Biggs???" Now that I think about it, the movie novelization might have been the first "real" book I ever read. I was 6 in '77, saw the movie in the Fall of that year.
FYI there's a website called "leiasmetalbikini.com" that has tons of pics of her in the outfit. And of some other nice looking chicks dressed in replicas of that outfit. |
Got them from Netflix yesterday. Watched Episode IV and V last night.
NICE pics! I really like the one where Luke is looking in the distance(1st show) the sound track was unreal!
I'm not shocked at all that you guys notice this stuff. |

+1 on that TIE fighter pilot costume. I also like the Death Star Gunner costume. I also like the Imperial Snow Storm Troopers: And the Imperial Scout Troopers: Favorite equipment: Imperial Speeder Bike (who didn't want one of those babies?) And the AT-AT: My favorite piece of equipment was either |
