The pit is a perfect example of why flaming off all the time doesn't suit the site. I go peek in there once in a while, but the pit sucks ass. it's just a bunch of crybabies. I can get that shit in traffic every day. Yeah we have some rules here in GD. yeah it would be real nice to see less selective enforcment based on name and post count. But it is a private owned site. They could be selling beanie babies or something far more grave with the ar.15 moniker. |

Arfcom too pc recently? By my recollection, arfcom was too pc as far back as 2001. September 2001. September 11-12 2001 to be exact.
As the twin towers fell, I was quite vocal about the perpetrators that attacked our country and call them a slang name that refers to the “cloth that swaths their heads.” I was temporarily banned. Now years later we see numerous despicable acts of terrorism including beheadings, all over the news. The “overzealous Islamic gentlemen” are at war with not only America, but Judaism, Hindus, moderate Muslims, heck, the whole world that is not in agreement with them. And the total number “overzealous Islamic” people in the world that HATE anything not of Islam and agitate for violence are many 100's of thousands more then just the few handfull of 9/11 terrorists we posters were warned to limit our rage to on September 11-12 2001. You know ‘cause it was not pc here at arfcom to blame more Islamic people for aiding/abetting terrorism. So I called them a name. I was right about them. Think I’d ever get an apology? Naw, certain senior staff are too scared of their shadows, and too sensitive. Arfcom is pc? You bet it is. And I won’t forget being punished either.

My only issue with PC'ness pertains to radical Islamists. I see no worthy reason why you can't call a white sheep white. I also see no reason why we can't call beasts beasts. Otherwise, I have no issues with PC'ness here. While I don't own or run the site, maybe my opinion doesn't matter. But since I was asked for my opinion in this thread, there it is.

Yes. This place is too PC. When you get into trouble calling criminals "criminals", such as illegal border jumpers, and even differentiating them from legal border crossers by refering to them by their river-swimming behavior, the place is too PC.
Labels refering to undesirable behavior, even non-criminal but undesirable nonetheless, should not be taboo. |

Everyone is acting on my lead, so at least blame me. It's funny to see this PC stuff cycle every few months, always when someone pushes things too far. The reason for the CC is to protect the site. If I didnt care what happened to this site, then I wouldnt care what was said on it. There's very little you can do to really push the edge and the "kill everyone" type thread is just popular because of the anger around here. I feel the same hate, pain, and frustration as everyone else, i just take the time to word it differently. If you don't care what happens to the site, then why are you on it? Would it be better to leave these types of comments on the forum and just count the days until we're shut down? My job is not even a no win situation, it's a lose-lose situation. I'd just rather this place shut down because of my actions and not someone else's lack of self control in what they say. |

What ignorance? If you have been a part of this site, then you know it's members have taken part in getting sites shut down by government offices. Have you seen what they do if they get pissed off? It's usually well known that the gov could give a rat's ass about what happens on the net if it doesn't involve a) millions in lost profits, b) their own asses. Outside of that it's a pain for them to do shit and when they do, they usually are not too thrilled with it. Shit, ever have one of these offices CALL YOU to inquire about things said, why they were allowed to be spoken, and perhaps information on these people. Have you seen the subpoena they serve and how they state that without complete cooperation you will be in violation of federal law? There's a very real issue with pushing limits on the net and when big brother gets involved, you don't want to be a part of it. It's an absolute joy to see their extatic expressions too, like someone gave them some worthless bullshit to clean up not worthy of their time.
This is a generalization taken out of context, but the point is simple. When other actions are taken, even within our own borders, we don't ask rant with a "kill them all" attitude, we ask for the guilty parties to fry.
So because you can't type something on a site, you're not allowed to think or feel it? Have you thought of wording it differently and being clear? Perhaps the problem is emotions are hard to supress in the heat of the moment... |
