Humble and nonjudgemental should be the word of the day...

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin."
I'm whispering "I was lost,"
Now I'm found and forgiven.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain,
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
who received God's good grace, somehow.

Nope, not a trap at all. Those words summed up very well my feelings about the helfire and brimstone spewed about people with tattoos in another thread. I am a fairly humble person and need not be judged by my fellow man, there's a higher reconnin' for me.

+1  Try to live like Him.  Fail miserably, but thank God I'm forgiven.

P.S.  We got any Nazarene's in the house?  Having come from a Baptist, Methodist, and Catholic background, in my opinion I can firmly say that my recently acquired understanding of the Nazarene Christian doctrine of faith through holiness has got to be the closest plan of what God wants than many other denominations.

It is as if the Church of the Nazarene takes the Christian 'experience' one step further - above and beyond the typical "you're lost, you get saved, you try to live a Christian life" mindset of the more affluent protestant denominations.

Excellent Christian Thread.

Glad to read it before it turned into another dogmatic, overly zealous, judgementfest.

Thanks. God bless.
