They are invitations to try Google's email service,
It is still in Beta testing so not everyone can do it. Like hotmail, but better in just about every way I can find. |

Supposed to be a pretty good service. Is Gmail still planning to insert text ads into your emails though? Computer Shopper did a comparison of the various main free email services this month and Gmail came in second. Yahoo beat it out by a pretty decent margin. Gmail does offer huge storage for free - 1GB.
