The North or the South?
poll coming |
South Carolina, standing alone against northern aggression since 1860
Georgia...stomped by Sherman's march to the sea but ready to take on the Yankee pigs all over again!
The war was NOT about slaves. It was about states rights and the economic war the north was waging on the South. |
THE NORTH...and I ain't gonna let myself get dragged into a civil war debate.
Being below the Mason-Dixon Line here.
I guess I would have fought those above said line that crossed into our territory for whatever reason. Danny |
I would have to leave Minnesota and go to Virginia, My daughters state of Birth.
The north of course!
Who the fuck wants to fight with a bunch of whiners?? Damn southerners get upset when it rains for WWF Nascar Sgat1r5 Sgatr15 |
One more time it was not about slavery.
And we would kick yankee ass this time. All the manufactruing has moved South! |
The South, mainly because the nOrht seems to be miroring my Gov't choice's
and well, I think State rights have been trampled for longer than my family has been on this continent |
Oh....you mean the War of Northern Aggression. (I was born in Texas, after all....)
Still, would probably fight for the Union. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, justifies the slave culture of the South. I would do anything humanly possible to free another human being from that type of captivity. Sort of like what we just got done doing in Afghanistan and Iraq. JDuncan 1 is right, the issue began as a state's rights issue...but that was quickly overcome by the realization of what the South was doing to the blacks. Once it became a moral issue, the entire North mobilized....and the South didn't have a chance. Add to that Lee's blunders shortly before and including Ghettysburg (he never should have entered Maryland--he lost the moral high ground of "we're simply protecting ourselves" when he did that) and the South was doomed to lose. |
BOW BEFORE YOUR YANKEE OVERLORDS!!!!!!!!!
Actually all my direct relatives were still in Ireland at that point and if I was here I'd be doing whatever I could to buy up land along the transcontinental railroad since I know how the civil war ends anyway. I suppose I could make some pretty good money inventing the machinegun, the tank, airplane, and the blender (for mixed drinks), "discovering" anesthia and actually keeping a sterile environment around open wounds would probably have done more for everyone I guess. |
The hell you would. You dum,b rednecks would drive your tank 1/4 mile and turn left, drive a 1/4 mile and turn left. etc. etc. etc....You damn fuckers would never get out of town! And rarely are you guys ever sober enough to shoot straight anyways. Sgatr15 |

You know, I really don't know.
I've always considered myself more a Southerner than a Yankee. So I would probably end up fighting for the South. Considering how much hatred we see in this country anymore (between the left and right), I would not be too surprised to see yet another Civil War in the not too distant future. There can only be bottled up hate so long before it starts to bubble over. But if it happens again, it won't be two geographic regions against each other, but rather red and blue states going at it. I suppose most of the South would be united however. But there would be many midwestern and Plains states also a part of the alliance, as well as some in the Mountain West. |
back then, I would have been slaving away building railroads for you jackasses.....
But you weren't a slave (technically) Sgatr15 |
The War of Northern Aggression had very little to do with Slavery. It was mostly about the Federals trying to tell the States what to do.
In the War of northern Aggression, I would have fought for the South with my fellow North Carolina troops. Even though I would most likely not have been a slave owner (based on what I know of my family's economic history at the time), I would have fought for state's rights and to defend my home against northern invaders.
And as bad as that would have been, you would still be thankful you were HERE slaving away instead of being back wherever the hell you came from. |
<pssst> The Chinease built our RR. He came from China Sgtar15 |

You attended the BRD, we accept you here. Danny |

I'll let yall guess how I voted.
IRONY:
And the sig line: New York needs your preban lowers. |
I would proudly serve in the Texas 36th.
Just like my forefathers. Except this time, we'd have some black Texans fighting along side us, as they hate big government as much as the rest of us. |
Ouch... that had to sting. |
And the mormons and the irish. |
<pssst> There were a lot more Irish, Scots, and free Blacks working on the lines then there were Chinese. But yes, the RR bosses preferred to let the Chinese handle the explosives. And lets not forget the transcontinental RR was not built until AFTER the War of Northern Aggression. |

You'd be supprised at just how many Blacks fought on the Southern side during the WoNA(War of Northern Aggression). The History Ch. did a piece on it a while back. Remember, it was their homes that the North were burning and destorying too and alot of them didn't like it one bit. |
I know there was an indian because I saw him in "Cold Mountain" |

I would have been fighting montana winters, grizzily bear and those damn blackfeet sumsabitches. Zen "This is my rifle, there are many like it, but this one is mine" |

We prefer the term "conqueror". |

You southerners still think the war isn't over. We won, get over it.
I have union soldiers on both sides of my family! UNION FOREVER BOYS! UP WITH THE STARS!
Lee surrendered, I never did. |

I'm from Pennsylvania, learned all about the Civil War from the northern perspective and went to Gettysburg twice, and I'd still fight for the........................................Confederacy!!!!!

20th ohio veteran volunteer infantry! Early Ohio's Military Prowess The Civil War determined early Ohio's military prowess and made her outstanding among the states in the then faltering union. Grant, Sherman and Sheridan, the three generals commonly acknowledged as having possessed superior military talents and accredited with leading the Federal forces to some of the greatest victories, were all native Ohioans. Besides these men, the Buckeye State produced 19 major generals and 53 brigadier generals, with a total enlistment of 340,000 soldiers. There were 6,536 killed in action; 4,674 died in hospitals; and 13,354 died of diseases contracted while in service. Hundreds of others sacrificed arms and legs, or were partially disabled in other ways for the remainder of their lives. [redPresident Lincoln was wont to ask on the eve of a battle how many Ohio men would participate. When someone inquired why, Lincoln remarked, "Because I know that if there are many Ohio soldiers to be engaged, it is probable we will win the battle, for they can be relied upon in such an emergency. hoorah! www.lkwdpl.org/buckeye/buck29.htm as my ancestors did, i would fight with the federal troops to preserve the union and free the slaves. |
