The most I saw a preban selling for was about $1300 at the show, and that was a Colt.

I saw several at cabelas for around $1200.  I wonder how they will sell them.  I am saving my money for Knob Creek next month.

There was a Colt LEO marked M4 at a dealer table for $895 at the show.

Little Rock, AR show. post "pre-ban" guns from $1100-1400. Mags were from $8. beaters to $30 for NIW Colt mags. Most of the 30rd mags were around $15. Iv'e got some of the Tapco ones on order so I didn't buy anything.

Actually they do "get it".

Currently demand far exceeds supply on many no-ban items.  Unless more legislation is passed, prices for no-ban stuff will level off when the supply catches up with demand.  Until it does, these guys can charge a premium.

Unfortunately, most of these guys will likely just be stuck with their over-priced ex-pre-ban wares. I can't say that I necessarily blame them for trying to make a profit on the articles. I mean, you don't really expect the guy to sell a rifle for $800 if he paid $1100 for it, now do you?

Add in the local paper for a pre ban colt for $2200

They waited too long to come down a little. Now if they want to sell it they will HAVE to come down alot.

He will HAVE to sell that gun for $800. Or keep it for himself.

I was at the Valley Forge Gun Show on Sat. and the ban ending had less effect than expected. If you wanted a "No Ban" Colt it was $1100 which is about right for a Colt. The ex-"Prebans" were.... you guessed it around $1100 too. The "Post Ban" stuff was where the deals were at with them being anywhere from $575 to $800.  Mostly just got some nice knives, discrete case, and some ammo.

Saturday BEFORE the ban sunset, I went to two gunshops and both dealers told me 'the ban probably won't sunset, you should get these while you can'.

Once again, I don't blame the guys for trying to make a buck

But dont piss on my leg and call it sexy

$2500 for some old Colt, $1500 for another Colt, both marked as "Preban" on the cards.  I laughed and moved on.  Silverado Gunshow, Harford County, MD.

Unfortunately, I arrived at the gunshow just as everybody had packed up. The only assault-weapon-thingy left was a FAL with a thumbhole stock. Didn't see the price, as I left so I wouldn't have to pay admission for nothing.

I saw an Oly "marked preban" for 1350 and a worn out fugly SWG "marked preban" frankengun for 1200 or 1250 I forget. Lots of overpriced pistol and AR mags but some new LEO marked mags for 15.
Best deal I saw was a SA Garand in very nice shape for 595. I told the guy it was the most fairly priced gun I'd seen. The only reason he still had it so late Sunday afternoon was he had just taken it on trade and he wanted to get rid of it.
I only bought a couple AR small parts, I really just went to see what was up.
I saw the LEO Gov carbine RikWriters talking about. Raised my eyebrows too.

I think that it will be a while before "pre ban" anything starts to show up in any meaningful numbers. I suspect that  if GWB wins re election, and people aren't as apprehensive about another ban being passed, that more mags and such will become more plentiful.
So long as I can build an AR for $600 or less, I am not paying $700 + for one.
However, I am of the opinion that ammo is a higher priority than firearms. Ammo is the achillese(sp?) heel for gun owners. Stack it deep folks.

In time free enterprize and the free market will take care of high prices.

As dealers begin to compete for more market share, they will begin to drop prices.

I wouldn't be buying anything new right now. I will wait until things stableize a bit and come down after the rush to get stuff is over.

Of course if we get a new round of serious gun ban talk, it could keep things higher.

Laughlin, Nevada at a casino, their first-ever gun show.

SP1 - $1300.  Which was over the going rate around here prior to the sunset.

Of course, if you went to the pawn shop across the river, there was a guy without about five AR15 prebans.  Why does he have so many?  Because of the $2,500 asking price, I'll wager . . .

Other stuff were "LEO-marked" Glock mags at $24 and full-caps unmarked at $55.  No thanks to either.

Got Bushmaster 20 inch heavy barrel in AR-15A2 configuration with flashider and Baynet lug  for $850 at local gunshop brand new!!! It was "Law enforcement/Government use only" until one week ago! It sat at that shop for 4years without a buyer since he could only have sold it to LE but since the ban ended i went down the next morning and picked it up at the LE price it came at 4 years ago! The gunshop owner was glad someone finally removed it from his shelf and was able to legally do it now!

So now not only do i have a full Pre ban  military A2 configuration rifle but it has the novelty of having LE/GO stamped on the side!

I could have bought it when he got it 4 years ago being an elected peace officer but i promised other shooters i would not buy anything they couldn't while the ban was in effect and i keep my word!

P.S the guy even threw in a Brand new in wrap Colt 30 rounder and the bayonet and scabbard free! (It is after all a Army Navy store!)
