Pro-Mag Question - AR15.COM

I was looking for some magazines for a pistol, and I was wondering if anyone can comment on the quality of Pro-Mag products.

As a pistol mag or a paperweight? If the later then they are good. Good for failure drills too. I bought one before I knew better.

I have a few and they work great for me.
Do you want them for range work or defense?
I would stick with factory mags if you think your
life may depend on them someday. This is not
a good way to save a few dollars.

Run, Forest, Run!

Given that the ban has expired and high-quality full-cap mags will be relatively inexpensive, there is NO good reason to spend money on mags that MIGHT work SOMETIMES, when a bit more can get you mags you can depend on.

I've got some Pro-Mag Beretta 92F & Sig 229 mags, never had a problem with them, even when shooting as fast I can pull the trigger.

I have two for my 226, one I keep loaded all the time, taking it out once or twice a year to cycle a few mags through, been doing this for about 10 or so years without a problem. The other I use as a range mag. also no problems. So for a range mag I would recommend them but even with this kind of luck I'd rather bet my life on a factory mag.

I bought a Promag and Mecgar for my HiPower. Final evaluation came out as: Promag junk & Mecgar good and recommended (make sure you get a post-sunset price though).

I would agree with MecGar...I have a promag 15 round mag for the Glock 19...it has a broken follower...maybe i should put it up on the EE lol.

If you want a lot of frustration then try the ProMags. If you want to test yourself in failure drills, sneak some snap caps in a pile of ammo you're loading. Train with what you'll use in 'real life'.
