Shooting range owners plan to rebuild

The owners of a shooting range destroyed by fire this week plan to rebuild.

Officials continued an investigation yesterday into the Tuesday afternoon fire at the Bluegrass Indoor Range on Enterprise Drive.

Officials from the Lexington fire department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives examined heavy smoke damage, looking for the cause of the blaze.

No one was injured in the Tuesday fire that one witness said might have been caused by electrical problems. John Landreth said he saw sparks fly from the ceiling just before part of the ceiling fell.

The shooting range, used by law enforcement agencies as well as the public, opened in January 2003, said Leslie Wallace, a spokeswoman for the range. She said the business plans to rebuild.

Until then, members can use the range's other location at 4402 Kiln Court in Louisville, which will be completed Oct. 1, she said.
