Seems as though they have Hi-Caps for my SW99 now but only 12 rnds. At $40 a mag, does it seem worth it to anyone for 2 extra rounds?

I dunno...IMHO, if you can't solve the problem with 10 rounds, then you're probably in over your head, anyway...

Seems like it's worth at least a few if for no other reason than to exercise our newly returned right.

Is a 20% increase in ammunition capacity (aka firepower) with a 0% increase in size?

Hmmm....  Hmmmm.....    Hmmm.....

after shooting 6-8 times i would be looking for a place to hide and reload anyway.
i guess two more rounds might save your life if you could not get to cover.
so i would get one, maybe two mags and back them up with one or two 10 rounders.

does 40 rounds sound excessive for a CHL?

Could 1 round save your life?

If so, then 2 could also.

True...any chance to stick it in the eye of Feinswine and company...

And he's already got 10. I agree with the above poster, if 10 cant do it your in over your head anyways. On the flip side, I'd still buy some for the simple fact I can.

For the want of a nail, a horse's shoe was lost
For the want of a shoe the horse was lost
for the want of a horse the rider was lost
for the want of the rider the message was lost
for the want of the message, the battle was lost
for the want of the battle, the war was lost
and the kingdom was lost, starting with the want of a nail.

Or the saying that you should already be familiar with:
Better to have and not need, than to need and not have.

I will buy some as there the same price as normal 10 rounders and I want some more mags. (3 isnt enough) Just wondering if its worth it to replace the ones I already had. Oh, and I plan on buying some to stick it to the "man"  :)

Sig P220 : I paid 48.00 a mag for 8 rounders when 7 rounders were 25.00.  I guess you see how I feel about just one extra round.

Only if you need them, no?

If you can afford them, we should not be having this conversation.

If you can't,  see if someone in a commie state will buy your 10 rounders and use the money to replace them.

I don't buy the whole  "if you can't solve your problem with 10, 12 won't help" argument.  You can create scenarios where it does matter, and it might help you mentally to know that you have a few extra on tap.

For me, the only use for clinton cap mags is competitions that limit you to 10.  Then you don't brain fart and load more.

edited to add:
I think the SW99 mags can be had for less.  I'm looking to add a few more full cap mags to supplement my stash.  People mentioned $35 a few days back, but I have not begun my own web search.  Look around, you might do better.

How did 10 become the magic number, why not one, or two, or 50?

Bill Ruger saw the Glock 17 rounder as a threat to his new P series 9mm pistols.  So he asked congress to limit the capacity of new magazines to 15.

They said, "Restrict magazine capacity?  What a great idea!  It shall be ten rounds for the next ten years."[sound of gavel striking]

Well, with most of the above logic, you need to shit-can that weapon and buy something that holds 15 or 17 rounds, at least.  You know, for want of a nail, and all.

I mostly advocate that more is better but only to a point.  For example, 2 - 15 round mag's = 3 - 10 round mag's.  Yes, there's an extra reload in there.

Im NOT getting rid of the gun. I LOVE it and it fits my hand like a glove. Took me along time to find one that fit good.

I know what you mean... I'm cringing at the thought of $40.00 bucks a mag for 3 extra rounds in a uspc9... my thought.... when I get around to it, sure....but I can buy plenty of other tools/accessories/cleaning materials/ammo that I need/want for the same $80 I'd otherwise spend on the mags... will I get hi-caps? prolly, but it's low on the old priority list.

My suggestion, then, is cost v. necessity.  I'd wait awhile and see if the prices come down after the hype is over.
