Lookin to build a pre ban rifle and thought I would start with the lower since they are harder to find. Is it a better to build one or buy a already built one. And what is the differance other than the "pre" that allows you to do more.

well, you can have a bayonet lug, threaded barrel, flash suprossor, car stock. thats about it. not much for double the price, eh. you might consider a post ban, as they are much more practical. im not sure if the LEGP is still available, but is so, its a good rifle that will cost you less that a pre ban lower. you should check out the LEGP forum

If you by just the lower make sure it was a complete gun before the ban.

If not you got a old and expensive "post-ban" lower.

Grenade launchers are banned too.  If you were thinking about one, you'd need a pre-ban.

Anyone know if flare launchers = grenade launchers?  So is it legal to put a flare launcher on my post-ban?

Grenade launcher = 40mm and Destructive Device.
Flare launcher = 37mm and not Federally restricted. You can put it on anything (local laws permitting), it just has no practical value.
