KVOA - Tucson
An FBI agent shot an acquaintance of a border watch group member while trying to serve an arrest warrant, FBI officials said Thursday. The shooting happened about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday in a grocery store parking lot in Douglas along the southeastern Arizona border with Mexico. According to the FBI, the agent was trying to serve an arrest warrant on Casey Nethercott of Douglas. Nethercott is a known member of Ranch Rescue, a group that works to protect private property along the southern U.S. border. Ranch Rescue and several other unauthorized groups have been patrolling along the border looking for illegal immigrants, raising concerns among migrants rights groups about potential abuses. At the time, Nethercott was with 22-year-old Kalen Riddle, also of Douglas. Charlene Thornton, special agent in charge of the Phoenix FBI office, said that "actions taken by Nethercott and Riddle led one of the FBI agents to fire his weapon." The FBI would not elaborate and said it won't release the name of the agent who fired the shot, in keeping with FBI policy. Riddle was airlifted to a Tucson hospital, but FBI officials did not know his condition. Nethercott was arrested Wednesday and is in federal custody. An FBI spokeswoman confirmed agents searched Nethercott's Douglas ranch on Thursday afternoon. The warrant the FBI was trying to serve alleges that Nethercott threatened Border Patrol agents. According to the warrant, Nethercott refused to pull over for Border Patrol agents on Aug. 31. After a slow-speed chase, the warrant said that Nethercott entered "a compound in Douglas occupied by members of Ranch Rescue." Riddle was identified as one of the people there. Agents said the Ranch Rescue members were heavily armed and had night vision equipment. After Border Patrol agents yelled for Nethercott to show his hands, the affidavit says Nethercott refused, and responded: "I'm going to take care of this myself, we're going to have a shootout." The affidavit does not say how the standoff ended. There was no listing for Riddle in Douglas. A phone message left Thursday at a residence listed for Nethercott was not returned. Nethercott, 37, has a criminal record. He was convicted of assault with a firearm in California and was on parole when he joined Ranch Rescue. In June, he was also found guilty by a Texas jury of felony firearm possession. The jury was deadlocked on a second charge that accused Nethercott of pistol-whipping an illegal immigrant near a Texas ranch. Douglas rancher Roger Barnett, who is not part of Ranch Rescue, supports the measures Nethercott took to stop illegal immigration. He compared the shooting of Riddle to Branch Davidians, who fought federal agents in Waco, Texas. "Citizens have to get out and protect themselves," Barnett said. "And this is what it leads to." |

Goddamn motherfucking sons-of-BITCHES! Since when the FUCK does a PRIVATE CITIZEN need "authorization" from the gooberment to protect PRIVATE PROPERTY. Cocksucking fucktards! |
Another upstanding patriot being kept down by The Man. |
I'd like to know the story behind his record. |
There is a long history of frivolous arrests of Nethercott, and they even tried to kill him in jail by depriving him of proper treatment of diabetes. I am not a RR'er, but I have followed this guys plight a bit and would caution you all to be skeptical of this shoot.
And they chose to target him why? He won the JBT lotto? |
It's no accident.
Isn't it interesting that when some group, arms themselves and asserts their independence in some way, that the fbi or atf shows up and "accidentally shoots" some of them? I really believe that the govt encourages this kind of thing to send a message to the rest of us. Kill women and children at Mt Carmel. Kill Weavers wife and son in Idaho. Let the "little people" know that to stand up for yourselves means possible death. "The nail that stands up, gets pounded down" (old Japanese saying) Banning semi auto weapons (aka "Assault weapons") had nothing to do with gangs using them and everything to do with limiting patriots access to them. These commie/socialist scum want us disarmed so they can complete the destruction of this country as we know it. (and they are already most of the way there) Zen "This is my rifle, there are many like it, but this one is mine" |
IIRC, some time ago a member of this sight was soliciting donations for Ranch Rescue. I'm glad I didn't donate. I wouldn't be happy if my money or materials went to this asshole. This is the kind of people they accept as members? Do they have any kind of screening process? Is this their poster boy? This just makes them look like the militia nut jobs that were all over the news in the early 90's. Keep up the good work ya morons! |
The guys a nut job. You have the right to petition for redress of grievances (that means going to court for those of you that can't understand big words or concepts). You generally have no right to forcibly resist arrest, even illegal arrests. Now if his young friend was his gun bearer then he didn't have the right or duty to resist. Again repeat after me Petition to Redress, that's in the Constitution. So if he decided to produce a weapon or take other equally idiotic actions he got what he deserved.
Yes you can protect your property, but you have no more right to abuse prisoners than a peace officer does. And you can't use deadly force to protect property (except Texas),. |

Ranch Rescue is a good idea but the fastest way to dick up a good thing is to hire a convicted felon on parole, allow him to carry a gun, then thumb his nose at law enforcement officials and make a threat.
Rangh Rescue should drop this guy like a bad habit. |
He was convicted of assault with a firearm in California and was on parole when he joined Ranch Rescue.
If I were to decide to do something about the border problem, I wouldn't join a group like RR because of all the attention the feds give them. I would think a little more OPSEC than that would be necessary. |
If the above is true..then I don't feel sorry for him at all...if he did steal the weapons and gear, then he's a thief....no matter what he was trying to do by supporting RR, if he stole the weapons and gear, he's a thief...no better than the lowlifes that RR is trying to stop from entering the country.... Sorry folks..that's how I see it... |
I support Ranch Rescue. I do not support the FBI.
Nethercott can rot for all I care but the fed.gov really needs to keep their noses out of RR. Sonsabitches! |
Private property is a myth. It's all rented from the gov't. |
I support the right of the private citizen to protect his property.
If that means shooting illegal aliens...I'm good with that. There is some strange aggenda that prevents us from correctly enforcing and patrolling our borders. Allowing these illegals in here is fucking up out economy. If the gov agencies can't get it straight...then too bad. On the other hand...having a convicted felon on your squad is prolly not a good thing. |
Ever notice how the DOJ, FBI, Marshals, and Border Patrol are all MORE concerned about 'para-militia' groups that stand up for OUR COTUS and BOR than the illegals that unobstructidly sp? stroll right into the US (and Bush wants to give them blanket amnesty and citizen benefits)?!!
Gunowners, Constitutionalists, and Landowners need to WAKE UP!! and vote accordingly!!! |
How does "His condition sucked ass" sound? They don't fly you out just for minor wounds. At least here in VA, the lead EMS person at the scene has to think that you're in pretty rough shape (read "circling the bowl") to justify the cost, as he/she will have to justify their actions later to their medical director. |

Lumpy, ever the voice of wisdom and reason, why do I sense chiding skepticism? Is it so unbelievable JBTs woudl target someone? |
WOW and from a person that lives in Pennsylvania that knows everything about our border problems and how the .gov agencies operate. Especially the Southern border. I detect a breach of COC here but I digress....... Who do you think is just allowing them in? You are, of course, calling them illegals? How can you ALLOW someone in, and then call them illegal? You need to read PaDanby's thread above.
Your logic is flawed and thats, too bad........ Its real easy to sound supportive of something that is illegal in your State. Otherwise, spouting off about killing people from the safety of a 1,000 plus miles really sounds pretty stupid |

Out of curiosity, did a google news search on “nethercott” - excuse me while I don't go out of my way to get all excited about this guy:

Lets see,
Felon with a fiream, Conviction for being a felon with a firearm. Not showing his hands when confronted by an FBI agent. Yep, looks like he got what he had coming to him. Now, Randy weaver's wife and kids. That fucker who shot them should be in jail for ever. Mt. Carmel and the FBI's hostage Roasting Team, no love for them either. |
I support RR. If I owned a ranch somewhere and had a bunch of illegals comin through there. They'd have to find an alternate route into the States cause I'd do my best to send them to hell! I read one story about illegals coming into the U.S. breaking into this house and raping this lady for like 3 days before setting the house on fire, (not sure what happened to her afterwards or her family) I don't want that crap going on here. Thats b/s.....I think if they don't speak the language (English) they can get the heck out. And if they're illegally comin across the border, killem all let, Allah sortem out or whoever or whatever thier God is.
I love this quote here... "Ranch Rescue and several other unauthorized groups have been patrolling along the border looking for illegal immigrants, raising concerns among migrants rights groups about potential abuses." Well hell, the border patrol makes arrests and the migrants or the minorities who the heck ever makes an issue of them sending them back to Mexico so now they can't even arrest illegals.....thats horseshit! I heard about that on the Savage Nation talk show. Who the heck is going to protect these borders if the Border Patrol can't?? Someone needs to. Ranch Rescue needs to do better checks on people they have associated with them, thats for sure. They don't need bad publicity like this Nethercott gave them. They need more good people that want to help protect this country to get involved with them. And ya know, the frickin media could help some too, they could do a story about how the RR guys stopped a bunch of illegals from coming into our country as they (illegals) dropped all thier sacks of weed and took off in the opposite direction. NOOOOOOOOOOOO.....can't do that. Lets just report the bad crap that happens. Frickin media.....frickin illegals.....that reminds me, I got pissed off at my cable company yesterday. I get an invoice thing in the mail....2 pages.....1 page in English.....you guessed it....2nd page in Spanish. |
... but... but... Randy Weaver violated NFA, and David Coresh molested little kids! They were both felons, didn't they get what they deserved?
Hell yeah!! |
Ranch Rescue, while I agree with their cause, are a bunch of loons. Looks at their web site for cryin out loud.
"List of Contacts (let the power elites know that America supports the sweeps!) Contact His Eminence, Asa Hutchinson, Undersecretary for Border & Transportation Security for the Imperial Department of Homeland Security, and tell him that you want the Border Partol to continue to do their job! Call at 202-282-8355 or 202-282-8777, or e-mail him at [email protected]. His Highness, Trey Bohn, is the Director of Radio at the Office of Media Affairs for the White House and he wants you to stop e-mailing His Eminence, Asa Hutchinson, Undersecretary for the Imperial Department of Homeland Security. Trey wants us all to use a generic e-mail address, where your letters may or may not be seen. Why don't we ALL give Trey a call and remind him just who pays his salary? Call Trey at (202) 456-3851 . Contact His Holiness, Robert Bonner, Commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection, who sent out a memo for the Border Patrol to stop the sweeps: [email protected] or [email protected] Here is the number that the Imperial Department of Homeland Security wants you to call: 877-287-8667 (but don’t call after 3pm Eastern time, because it doesn’t work!) Instead, call the Imperial DHS at 202-282-8000 or email them [email protected] Call Her Highness, Gloria Chavez, at the Public Information Office at the US Customs and Border Protection at 202-927-1422 or email her glorious personage at [email protected]" Using this kind of language does absolutly nothing to advance their opperation and does everything to perpetuate the other sides claims that they are a lunatic fringe group. |

It Doesn't sound like this Nethercutt was exactly a fine upstanding citizen, had a criminal record etc. The problem is "Ranch Rescue" let someone like him join without checking his backround. And just because he is rounding up illegals does not give him the right to be Violent to them they are after all People too.
Unfortunatley every organization that people can Join gets an Asshole or two sooner or later and the organization gets to look bad as a result. My fire department just had two Junior Firefighters and a Adult proby sent up for being bored and lighting a few of their own around town, unfortunately the rest of us are looked at suspect because of it. It comes with the territory when you area group that openly recruits from the public. |
This is my neck of the woods. Nethercutt is a dipwad who was literally asking for a confrontation. The USBP has the authority to pull over any vehicle on the road within 25 miles of the border. You see the Green and white truck behind you turn on its bubblegums, you pull over. The BP guys and gals are real pros, and not the d*ckheads some make them out to be.
Ranch Rescue is a good idea, but Nethercutt was a huge mistake on their part. |
As Uncle Paul says, do ya know the rest of the story? A bit of advice: I wouldn't call all those in here "morons". Some, or most, may be a whole lot smarter than you ever dreamed of, sir. |
"assault" rifles get bad press too....does it mean we're a bunch of ex-con whackjobs? |
"actions taken by Nethercott and Riddle led one of the FBI agents to fire his weapon."
Something stinks here ??? |
I know your against any armed group of citizens -- ever since that nut job killed the local Massillon cop, you have stated your objections to the Militia. I know why your against it, I still do not agree with you -- and morons who feel that way. |

Randy Weaver deserved to have his wife shot in the head and killed and his son shot and killed for sawing off a shotgun barrel too short? That's a f*cked up statement. |

+2 I can tell you with all certainty that if my home was on the border of Mexico I'd be taking steps to protect it from illegals. There. That ought to put me on yet another list. I must be up to about forty or fifty now. |
Would it be illegal to shoot out of our country, ie over the border?
I've wondered for several years. M |
It's obvious that Federal Law Enforcement agencies, for whatever reason, have decided to turn a blind eye to the illegal alien invasion happening today.
What do you do when the LEOs won't uphold the law? Unfortunately, vigilantism appears to be the only effective measure. Writing to Washington damn sure won't get you anywhere. And it's sad, rather than going after the root cause, ie, illegal immigration, they decide to spend all their time and money and enforcement effort going after these groups that want nothing more than the illegals to stop trashing their property and killing their livestock. |
excuse me if I don't get all excited about the "Border Action Network" http://www.borderaction.org/about2.php?articleID=1 I have no idea who this guy was, maybe he is a loose cannon, but the concept of defending one's land seems to make sense, oh wait, I live a thousand miles away so I better pipe down and leave this to the locals... |
And maybe there wouldn't be all these "dangerous militia and vigilante groups" if the government actually bothered to enforce the fucking law and stopped the illegal alien flood. Nah, it's just easier to come down on property owners who don't like their ranchland being used as a superhighway into Norte Americana |
