No kidding - people who are whining about the Patriot Act and civil rights concerns over here need to keep a close eye on what is happening in Russia. Putin is already using the Beslan attack to effectively undermine ANY political opposition. All hail Tsar Putin I

Yeah he's working on the dictatorship with his "I'll pick new govenors for all of you!" policy. I'm sure he won't be shy about putting people in shallow graves, whether he'll put the right people in the ground, or even catch them, is the question, I guess. |

What can they do that they already are not doing?
Send in Tanks to Chechnya, or shell Grozny and its civvies to Rubble? Let Chechny alone? Been there, done that. Project force over the borders? Naw, not without the help and cooperation of the US. Despite all the bluster, there is little they can do. What Putin CAN do is tighten up Moscow's control over the country as has been discussed here. |
