I just sold two.  They were OK.  PITA to get parts for.  Shot OK, but not as good as my Remingtons.

I have a steyr SBS prohunter in 300 win mag and another Steyr SBS Tactical McMillan in .308.
The Tactical is a bad ass rifle and shoots easy 1/2" groups with box ammo. I don't have a rem 700 but many of my friends do, and they can't outshoot the Steyr with box ammo. It is a little hard to get aftermarket parts.
My reccomendation is this:
If you want the same gun that everyone else has-get the rem. Plenty good.
If you want something different and really nice, get the Steyr. Really great.

Doug out.
