I guess they realize that the Rebel Flag is a symbol which stands for rebellion against an overbearing Govt. and not a symbol for slavery. Wish everyone would know that here. Most people make it a symbol for whatever they want instead of what it really stands for. I bet most people who have this flag on their pick up trucks don't even know what it means.

I have this little feeling the cracker, in the first photo, paid these guys to pose with the flag. The freedom fighters don't look well versed in U.S. history.

That "cracker" looks like a priest to me. BTW, why would an average Joe fly his ass to a God forsaken desert in the middle of a civil war to pay, suposedly uneducated, blacks to pose with a confederate flag? |

The flag is part of American pop culture, I'm afraid.
I had a Malaysian roomate (ethnic Indian) who knew all about CURRENT American culture when she arrived - She knew all about Doris Day, John Wayne, Freddy Mercury (blah), movies, which Hollywood types were sleeping with who, etc., but she had no clue as to other things. She had no clue as to who Robert E Lee was, much less Nathan Hale, John Paul Jones, the battle of New Orleans, etc. She did not know what the phrase "I'm with the government, I'm here to help you" meant. Over there, government service is a very desirable status. |

Mtmpatriot, down here in Asheville H.K. Edgarton (sp?), a black man and former president of the Asheville chapter of the NAACP, can be seen walking around downtown in a full conferderate uniform with a confederate flag and a big sign that reads "Heritage Not Hate". Talk to him and he makes a pretty convincimng arguement that blacks would be better off today if the south had won. Now THAT really chaps thier ass.
