Unless they need to defend a high profile facility against dozens of heavily armed and armored terrorists I can't imagine any police agency needing this kind of firepower. Maybe at a nuclear power plant or something.

It would be sweet if they sold a semi auto versions to the rest of us.

They're doing it for the same reason I'd do it if I owned a firearms manufacturing company, legal full auto for the boss.

I would venture to say that MG's like these are used mostly by FFL/SOT dealers for LE demos/training purposes and NOT actually purchased by the departments.
