I'm feeling the need for a new gun. I'm a pistol person primarily, but a scoped rifle is the way I'm leaning, probably in .308. Current long guns in my collection include AR15 .223, Garand in 30-06, Marlin levers in .45-70, .44mag and .357 mag. I have no scoped rifles and my club range only goes out to 200 meters. I'll probably only be paper punching, or doing casual competition shoots at the club. Of course, a SHTF sceanrio is always in the back of my mind. I've always liked the BDL, but the new Bushy AR10 piqued my interest. Any thoughts (besides get both
 )?

Get an Armalite AR-10 & a Bushmaster .308 It's a win/win

If you'd it was for hunting I would have said get the Remington, but since it's for the range and you've got "the itch" for the Bushy that's the way to go.

The new Bushy is a DREAM gun. But get the Remington. If you want accuracy, it's the only way to go. If you want a 308 blaster that can shoot good groups, get the Bushy. If you get the PSS series in a 700, you can come to Arizona for our Spring Shootre-Rooter & blast milk jugs at 800 to 1000+ meters ALL DAY LONG !!!

I say go with the Bushy. What would make the Remington better for hunting? In my experience the average hunting rifle is no more accurate than a decent AR, most of them are not as accurate.

I love the Armalite's with SS barrels....the Rem700 has the best potential to become the better shooter but I'd put my money on the AR10 with a (T) upper or SS barrel up against a box stock BDL any day.
Have you considered the $900+ DPMS LR-308? I hear they can drive tacks..... |

Oh, my bad you referred to AR10 which is an Armalite product.
I'm not sure I would dump $1400 in to a new model with a ONE YEAR warranty. Go with the Remington. |

No, my bad. I was referring to the Bushy .308, I called it an AR10, thinking they were using the same designation as the Armalite. I guess they're calling them A2s and A3s. |

Not better, but most people like a different type of weapon for different uses, and he'd already stated that he liked the Remington. I didn't mean to imply anything bad about a Bushy.

I'm sorry, does Colt still hold that trademark? I believe the AR15 plans are also community property now. The AR10 isn't. HUGE difference..... |

Get the 700 LTR in 308. That way you get a light enough to use gun in a real stock without the
j-lock. It will be or can be made to be a 1/2 minute rifle. They are very nice. Sometimes used one show up on snipercountry's board. |

Does anybody know if Bushmaster does customization? I'm eyeballing the Bushy .308, but I've got a very particular direction I want to go with it. I'm thinking float-tube, 2-stage trigger, and a Gem-tech bi-lock type flash suppressor. :D
I guess I could rebuild it, but if it can "come that way", that would save money on replacing parts. (Obviously, the stuff not in their catalog will have to be put on later...) |

I agree with SHIVAN, get the AR10. The Peoples' Republik of Mass. can ban it at any time. The Rem 700 will always be available because it is a bolt gun.
