Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - ATF question?

I know this has been covered before so I apologize for the repeat.  My best friend is a LEO and says that he can buy any length barrel AR.  I think he is wrong.  I told him his department can but if HE wanted to he had to go through the same paperwork I do.   Thanks for any help.

You are correct.  Your friend can use a SBR owned by his dept., but without doing either a F4 to transfer it into his name or a F1 to make his own, he cannot just buy one to keep for himself without the NFA registration simply by virtue of his LEO status.
