I had an AR50, finding a nice scope after purchase was abit of a challenge. Its nice if you have somewhere to shoot it on aregular basis and can get some range. I kinda regret selling it sometimes.

Got a semi 1919A4 - IMHO, it makes a better conversation piece than a shooter. The amount of crap you have to lug around to shoot it isn't worth the experience - of course, I bought an MG3 tripod for it, which is like 45lbs itself. Maybe if I got something a bit slimmer it'd be less of a hassle. Anyway, I really don't get much more out of it than any other mag-fed semi .308. Maybe one of the crank devices would make it a bit more fun, but out of the two designs I've seen, I believe the cheaper is still like $200, and depending on the mount you get, you're going to be putting at least $1500 into a relatively barebones setup. Either way, lots of money for little return, IMHO.

I'm thinking a bolt gun in .338 Lapua. It isn't a .50 of course, but it is in the same type of genre...and you don't hear anyone talking about banning it...yet.

Get the Serbu !!!
Finally got to go re-zero mine this weekend.... only had 100 yds... 3rd round was dead center of my orange spotter ! Two more shots and the farthest measurement between centers was 3/4" Serbu BFG-50 and a Tasco Super Sniper 20x..... not too bad for a sub minute-of-angle .50 BMG  I have put almost 200 rounds through my rifle and not one problem with my trusty SS Tasco... I tried out several .50s before I bought mine. The AR-50 is just too damn heavy ( great if you only like to bench shoot, very low recoil ) I have a AR-50 brake on my Serbu and love it  My Serbu action is ALOT smoother than the AR-50 that I have got to shoot.... Get the Serbu and don't look back ! |

I second the Serbu! I worked at Summit Ammo for over a year as their gunsmith and I also worked on the manf. of .50BMG ammo. I got to shoot a lot of .50s!!! I got the Serbu and love it! It has a real extractor and ejector, has a smooth action, and is accurate to boot. I have never had to force the bolt open after shooting it.

If you wanna know how much I put into my 1919 IM or E-mail me. But, everyone that shoots it likes it. With 8mm conversion, ammo is dirt cheap.

Get an AR-50...
.50 calibers are currently being targeted for being banned in Kalifornia and other Socialist states. Get one & plenty of ammo while you can.... |

Try VPC's propaganda at One Shot, One Kill.pdf at page 9, the .338 Laupua is specifically mentioned. They seemed hung on limiting rifles to a 200 yard effective range.
So, no one with a rifle capable of > 200 yard shots are safe from these fools. wganz ¶ |
