From what I'm seeing quite a few of us have opted for a Vert. Front Grip on our AR's. Just wondering how many so here's another useless poll, LOL.

Keep one in the safe. Rarely mount it - I think the COOL factor wore off. I may start some competetive shooting, so maybe that will change my mind.

Funny thing is I spent all kinds of money on a Horizontal forearm for my 27a1 Thompson because I didn't like the Vert. Front Grip, then I go and build up an AR that's got one, go figure.LOL

I'm the opposite. I wouldn't want one on a Thompson. I wouldn't own a Thompson for practicality, so I'd get a military M1A1 model. I don't like the charging knob on top either.

Well when I got my RAS II "SSS" it came with a verticel grip. I use and like it.

It came with a Vert. style "ganster" grip which I didn't like so I put an M1 style Horizontal forearm on it.

i like them but I like ARs without them too. My M4gery has one (its almost required on an M4gery)

the 6520 I'm gonna get wont.

Very comfortable to shoot with on the Bushie carbine, don't really want one on the Armalite rifle.

If the Garand and the M1a dont need them, then a AR-15 dont....

pluse they really look stupid when you can just put your hand on the magwell...

The M14 and M1 Garand aren't exactly light and nimble rifles specialized for use at ranges less than 300 yards in an "urban" type environment. NOT that you can't use them as such, but they are generally speaking too large and heavy and ergonomically incorrect for such use, which wouldn't make a verticle foregrip an ideal choice. I believe Troy Industries sells a custom "SOCOM" kit that free floats the M1A's barrel and gives you a rail system like an RAS which makes it much more practical for using a verticle foregrip.

It's apples and oranges really.

Once I tried one I was hooked. An AR doesn't feel right to me now with out one.

A Vert. Grip on an AR does allow you to take a "fighting stance" when shooting. I like the feel and control that I'm getting with the Vert Grip. Also, I use the storage space for my front sight tool, that way it's always with the rifle.

I have one on my full-auto Vector Uzi, it really helps control it when in full-auto. However, for a semi-auto rifle, it doesn't help nearly as much. A foregrip also makes it harder to shoot prone and/or from a bench.
