The assault weapons ban did one good thing...it upped the sales of 1911 clones....

It makes sense....why would you have 10 rounds of small bullets "euro-pellets" when you could have a finely tuned 8 round 1911?

now that the ban is waiting for republican assisted suicide...will we see a drop in sales of the 1911...and will companies like Kimber and colt jump on the "wonder-nine" bandwagon?

I personally love the little 9mm and plan to buy atleast two more in the next year...

no civilian sales follow police, the police have pretty much gone away from the 9mm so I think thats more of the reason why 9mm sales aren't as great as they were.

the 1911 is still a kick ass pistol.

Wow so far 100% of the people are saying yes to 9mm!

I don't think popularity, or lack thereof, will effect the standard capacity (13+ for most auto pistols) vs. the .45 - regular capacity mags are still plentiful - ban or no ban. I think you will still see a large number of people using the .40, .45 , and .357SIG ( to a lesser extent). The 9mm isn't all that - but will never go away due to history and its NATO status.

Id much rather have 15 rounds of 9mm than 8 rounds of 45 ACP.   Modern 9mm hollowpoints are deadly enough for me.  Not to mention that 9mm is much cheaper to shoot.

Maybe at first, people might want to add a hi cap 9mm to there collection now. I also think many people have discovered the the wonderful world of the 1911.

I bought a 1911 (Springfield) only because I liked the trigger.  The difference between 9mm and .45ACP are marginal, in terms of one-shot-stops.  I prefer the higher capacity and the reliability of my Glocks and SIGs.  My SA 1911 was a jam-o-matic from day one and even Wilson magazines didn't help that.  Some day, I might buy another if I can guarantee some level of reliability.

I'm with you absolut...

I LOVE my Glocks...

but I have the 1911 itch...and it really needs to be scratched!

I doubt it will be carried much...a 110 pound guy and a three and a half pound 1911 dont go so well together

I don't like your poll options so I'm not voting, but I will say that I don't think it will effect 1911 sales one way or the other.

If you bought a 1911 because you couldnt get hi-cap mags for a 9mm, then you dont get the 1911 at all.

Sell it.

Yes...now that we have 17 rd Glocks again...the 9mm is officially back where it was in the late '80s.

I Think that sales of 40 short n' weak, and 357 sig will benifit as much or more than the 9mm Luger/Parabellum.

I am weighing the pros and cons of a double stack 45acp or 10mm 1911 style pistol as I have large hands.

The .45 could be considered a "pussy" cartridge when compared to some others if you are all about performance...basically you have to choose what is best for you...but I wouldn't consider the 9mm a pussy load...

This entire post is moronic. The AWB helped 1911 sales? BS

No, I bet there will be a jump in sales of double-stack 1911s instead.

But much better bullets and loads available making it roughyl equal to .40 and .45 in terms of "stopping power" (so to speak)...

I really like nice 1911's..... and untill bullets are replaced with laser beams, it wont die...
But... I am buying another XD-9.. this time with night sights and 15 round mags...

Don't need 15 rounds, 2 will do just fine, hell that still leaves me with 6 extras.

You guys sound like the TV lol.

We could always keep a 17rd clip in our glock. Nothing has really changed.

The 1911 is a classic and is a mans gun bottom line. If for anything else just to say you own one.

I have a good number of handguns, but I usually carry a single stack version no matter what the caliber- 45 or 9mm.  I just don't like carrying the thicker double stack mags, especially the honking big plastic mags of the Block.  I do have a Block 20 in 10mm, so I am not "anti".  I can carry two single stack mags a lot more comfortably than a single big'un.

As for the "lack" of capacity I guess the thundering hordes will get me in the end, so have some sympathy.heeseP.S. Europellets!  Hahaha.

I'm they same way...Most 1911's pull my pants down.  I even have a Kimber Ultra Carry that causes my pants to sag...So for this small framed guy a Kahr PM9 will have to do.

No, the M1911 is it's own thing, doesn't compete for the same market at all.

The 1911 is and always will be a classic, there is a place for 9mm  and .40s/w, and all of them can do the 'job' but there will always be a very special place in my heart for the 1911.

When I see a 1911 I automatically see visions of WWI,and WWII Normandy, Omaha Beach, and all the great battles all over the Pacific.

In my eyes the 1911 is right up there with the flag, Mom and apple pie, with out either of those the others could not exist.......Just my random thoughts......
