Since logging on today to AR15 I've been "PINGED" by a computer in Bejieng China 4 times, and in France twice

Shit you should see my firewall logs... I get hit, pinged, scanned, DOS'd, you name it, contantly.  It's just life on the net.  Loggin onto this site aint going to affect that... just coincidence.

I think I was hacked Friday.  I came home and my monitor display had been turned 90 degrees to the right.  I had to lay the monitor on it's side until I corrected the problem.  I'm using a firewall.

Yeah, I am!

Oh, sorry. I thought you asked if anyone else was getting Pingu. My mistake. Carry on.

LS1Eddie: you need a hardware firewall like those built into the routers.

Happens all the time to me.  Most of the pings are coming from Verizon's network operations center.  Verizon said they ping their modems at random to see if the routers are still working.  I don't see the point, because if I disconnect my DSL modem, they don't call me to say my service is down, I do.

I do get pings from other parts of the world and they are a concern.  So I set my local router not to respond to pings and turned off all my ports (windoze file sharing, ftp, telnet, etc.).

In the end, there isn't much you can do.  Welcome to the new wild west...the internet.

Its not hard to find ya without a firewall. I suggest you get one.
