Here are just a few current auctions running on Gun Broker right now. Yes, some are reserve auctions but the sellers are starting with low opening bids. At least this will give a true reading on market values.
Just think where things will be once the sunset is widely understood and has a chance to sink in. www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=22461955 www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=22906300 www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=22651227 www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=22740404 www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=22784248 www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=22828098 www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=22922504 www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=22759044 www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=22930374 |

The imports and quality weapons will fall some but will stabilize. Unless HK decides to build 9x series guns in the USA. Colts will always be worth more but the price will also fall as full option post post ban guns become available. The off brands like that Sendra? and clones will be dirt cheap. Not to mention the artificial high price of AKs will fall to a reasonable level.

About time...an ar is not worth more than four hundred bucks in my opinion. If it wasn't for the ban, the ar would be worth two bills max...Honestly, the ar is a POS...
??? |
C'mon..ar's were worth what...3 bills before the ban? Dealers couldn't give them away...
I'm guessing that you didn't buy many ars pre-94. Dealer on a pos parts gun was $500... but you could buy 4 SKSs for three bills or about ten Raven 25 autos. |
I bought my ARs pre ban for around $650. This was for Colt guns. I wish I was shopping at the places you were for $300. I doubt it. I dont think a Colt was ever in the $300 range.
If you bought a new colt anytime in the 90s for less than $800 you got a deal. |
Being somewhat predictable, I hope the gougers get an economics lesson.
I remember seeing Colt AR-15's at the sporting goods store in San Jacinto Mall (Oshman's) back in 1988 for $700. Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas... |
You can get quality ar's for around six hundred right now. Are they gonna drop like a rock after monday??? I think so...Is the name brand really worth that much more???
I don't get your reasoning. Between right now and in a couple days the only difference will be the bayo lug, flashhider and possible telestock (depending on model). Are you actually buying into the whole "streets will be flooded with assault weapons" crap? What reason is there for the prices to drop? Supply will be the same, demand will be the same. The only differences will be cosmetic. |
No, is a Colt really worth the extra cash? Will a bushmaster or RRA or Olympic or ASA or Armalite or a million other manufactors outshoot a Colt or are you buying the name brand?
The parts for a decent ar cost around $500 - $1000 right now. (depending on what you consider decent ) I don't see how the ban going away is going to change that much. Is "Billy Machinist" suddenly going to decide that is barrels are only worth $150 because the ban went away? Strongly doubt it... But hey, you live in Kali, you can get half a dozen for $50 on any street corner. That's what Fineswine tells us anyway. |
Supply will NOT be the same. The feds are NOT restricting the guns... |
Taxation is the most widespread form of restriction. |
We covet what we cannot get...if all of a sudden all the evil guns are now legal, would you spend the same amount of money for a legal versus an illegal gun? I think not... |
Earth to John, "The Feds" never restricted the sale of parts. |
Yeah, but you can't apply the parts... |
And that would make them more expensive?? How? |
Well, that's like telling me I can buy all the radar detectors I want, but I can't use it to detect radar...get it??? |
Where do I say it makes it more expensive??!!! |
When you stated that when the ban went away they would be less so. |
where did you come from?? |
The greatest state in the nation, California. Bow down to us, you pathetic fools... |
not yet we still have 19 hours left, you never know Pres Bush might sign an executive order renewing it. |
but for how long??? Someone needs to step up... |
Dude, take your negativity elsewhere. It's obvious you are looking to stir up shit for your own amusement, and I'm not having it.
We fought hard & we WON... it's time to catch our breath, crack a cold one, and thread a muzzle or two! |
Really??? Tell me what you did...I was in the middle of the fight and I got BURNED...tell me what you did... |
Are you talking about preban AR-15's and how the prices will drop because of the sunset (thus the preban becomes just another used AR-15)? Otherwise you're not making a whole lot of sense. Right now I can purchase a brand new AR-15. I've done it a few times. Starting monday I can purchase a brand new AR-15. The only differences between the firearms will be cosmetic. There is no great ramp up or slow down in production, so supply will remain fairly constant. Law abiding citizens could always (during the last 10 years in free states), purchase AR-15's as they still will be able to. So no great jump in demand. There will be a higher demand for parts and for a short time firearms with cool features. Then it will stabilize as it always does. I'm not seeing where you say the price of AR-15's will drop like a rock on Monday. It's not going to happen. If you're talking about prebans, then okay. My apologize rickinvegas for the hijack. |
goodnight...obviously you can't specify a real fight... |
Pre-94 prices already falling like a rock
Tell that to some of the gougers over on the E&E..... |
In 1978 I paid $431.87 for my Colt,NIB,AR-15,carbine...out the door including sales tax.I still have it and it is still not for sale.Used to sell XM-177,style carbines for around $499.99,in late 80's.Prices on parts and receivers have gone WAY up since then.
So $300.00 for an AR,new, has allways been wishfull thinking.Unless it was stolen. |
You're just saying that because you're from Kalifonistan and can't own one! |
What did he do???? Good people, please, dont smoke crack. It does severe permanant damge to vital brain cells. |
Right now my local dealer has about eight AR's. They have no bayo lug, no FH and no collapsible stock.
Why would I want to pay $750.00 to $850.00 for that AR and then have to invest more money and time into converting it when I can wait till a No-ban comes out with all the features I want? Thus...............those prices might drop or they will still be in his inventory for years to come. |
exactly.. you couldnt get me to pay 750$+ on an post ban,,, the onesout there now will drop,,, not much but they will,,, i bet you could see a bushy or such post ban for under 500$ within a few weeks to a month or so untill the newer NO ban modles come out,, those on the other hand will command a higer price for sure,, and hopefully the dealers wont gouge the price,,, the pre 94's will drop but not much,,, id say around 700ish,,, they wouldnt be a reason to have the high price,, 10+ yr old gun 800$ or a brand new Ar with all the goodies for 800$,,,hmmmmmmm not ahard choice,, id go with the newer rifle,,,,, why buy used! |
you got burned how? Because you live in a socialist republic on the west coast? We have not been burned at all. The ban will be gone monday for several months at least. Want your toys back try moving back to AMERICA. mike |

Fixed it for you |
Well I bought a AR15 HBAR in 1987 for $850.
Now you can buy a new one for less than $1000. so in 17 years ARs have only gone up $200-300 in price. I made $612 a month in 1987 and now I make $4500 a month so from my perspective ARs are dirt cheap. I should own 20 of them, but the wife talked me into buying a old house with 5 acres of land. I just built a RRA M4 for $570, RRA lower $165 buffer tube $20 Used flat top upper(RRA, Wilson barrel) $250 Bolt group $90 The only thing it needs is a carry handle. so yes ARs are dirt cheap. I carried a M4 for 7 1/2 months in Afghanistan and its no POS. FREE |

Kalifornia is a Republic, not a state. |

How would you know about prices John? Youre in a state that will not allow citizens to own ARs. Just suck it up and admit you pissed and whinning like little girl because you cant have one!
