After reading some of the post there its clear that these people could care less about freedom. It’s like their scared of it. When I left the site I got the feeling it was ran by Opera Winfrey watching soccer moms and pot smoking hippies. What is the ideal world these people want?

Most of them are hard-core Socialists, wanting a cradle-to-(mass)-grave Nanny State.
Scared of Freedom, scared of Uncertainty, scared of Strength, scared of Dissenting Opinions.

I've looked and looked, and can't find a 'Classic Liberal' in the bunch.

Pick up a copy(movie, of course) of George Orwell's "1984" and you'll have the general idea of what they're shooting(pun intended) for. Of course if you pick up a copy of "Red Dawn" you see what'll happen if they keep trying to push it.

I think what they WANT and what they would GET are two completely different things.

History has shown that socialism/communism can only be sustained through the MASSIVE use of terror and force. The political system advocated by the morons on DU is not natural, and goes against human nature. They like to point out that Stalin, Pol Pot and the like perverted the socialist ideal; I contend that the terror of those regimes is precisely DUE to the political system.

As soon as the threat of terror on the populace reached a certain low point, the iron curtain came down in a monumental crash.
