We ban conservative disruptors who are opposed to the broad goals of this website. If you think overall that George W. Bush is doing a swell job, or if you wish to see Republicans win, or if you are generally supportive of conservative ideals, please do not register to post, as you will likely be banned.

Freedom of speech is outlawed on a liberal website.  One more reason NOT to vote for ANY democrat.  A democrat is anti-America.  A vote for a democrat is a vote for terrorisim.

I would love to see a reality TV show that was like this:  Rich man give all his money to a poor man.  See how long the rich man takes to get it back.

OK im leaving...

Is that not their prerogative?  Their goal is to have a forum populated by like minded individuals.  Nothing wrong with that.

I don't really care for their quick trigger finger on bannings, but that is just me.

These are the same kind of people who helped Hitler come into power. If they get a majority, you can bet, Hillery will become Hitler number 2.

In all fairness, that's a little unfair.

The purpose of DU is not to have open discussion - it is INTENDED to be a partisan, pro-democratic website.  The fact that they are not interested in open discussion or republican viewpoints is not really hypocritical IMO.

It would be like calling arfcom anti-1st amendement because we don't allow the posting of gay porn.

You are correct, but, are they not the party that claims to be the defenders of all that is good? They claim to want debate about the issues, but,  they turn around and try to squash all who disagree with them. It just shows the hypocrisy of the party.

... but DU is NOT the Democratic Party - they are not run by the Democratic Party, nor (I believe) are they offically affiliated with, nor funded by, the democratic party.

Don't get me wrong - those guys at DU are a bunch of douchebags with their heads up their collective asses - but I just don't find it hypocritical that a webpage dedicated to a particular goal isn't interested in viewpoints that oppose those goals.

I was trying to point out that they claim to represent the democratic party, not that they were the party, but, they are doing a mighty fine job of representing the democratic party, I might add.

I totally agree with that - they certainly don't make a good representation of the Democratic party by agressively squelching any thought other than their dogma.

Personally, I'm still quite bitter over being banned from over there.  I was incredibly reasonable, and did NOTHING to violate their rules.  I think I was banned for no reason other than the fact that I am a regular on arfcom (since I used the same handle).

I guess I just don;t consider it hypocritical per se.  I could be wrong - I often am

Democratic "Underground" is a kind of oxymoron.  The underground of nearly anything is anarchic.
