Dear Violence Policy Center Action Network Member:
The federal assault weapons ban is scheduled to end this Monday.
The VPC has been hard at work using its research and policy expertise to make
sure that members of the news media and editorial boards across America
understand that the assault weapons ban needs to be strengthened and that
America's police and public want an effective assault weapons ban.
Today, The New York Times (http://action.vpc.org/ctt.asp?u=1423191&l=54484,
registration required) ran an article citing the VPC's research on how the
industry has circumvented the ban and the threat assault weapons pose to law
enforcement--illustrating why the ban needs to be strengthened! This is only
one of the numerous articles and editorials across America that are now calling
for the ban to be strengthened as a result of the VPC's work.
Please help us by:
Forwarding this e-mail to a friend. Urge them to join the VPC Action Network at
http://action.vpc.org/ctt.asp?u=1423191&l=54485 and send a letter to President
Bush demanding that the ban be strengthened; or,
Cutting and pasting this link to our flash video, "The Gun Industry's Vision of
America," (http://action.vpc.org/ctt.asp?u=1423191&l=54486) and sending it out

As always, we appreciate your support and commitment to stopping gun violence.
