So should I get a .50 before the ban? I am really torn as to what to do. I would like to get the Serbu BFG-50, it's roughly $2100. That would be an awesome weapon, BUT with that cash I could get a Springfield loaded M1A, a Kimber .45, and a Garand. All of which I would love. I can’t decide, of course I would like to get all of them but since money doesn’t flow out of my ass that is out of the question.

What yall think?

I'd say get a .338 Lapua over a .50 cal. Flatter trajectory and you aren't shooting at armor anytime soon anyways.

Well if you get one chances are your stuck with it for a while considering it wont be transferable in CA anymore so you got to weigh it all out

I just cannot disagree with you more.  Do whatever you want with your money.  But until you own a .50 your collection is very incomplete

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Never say never...

If the ban goes through (either Arnold signs it or just lets it pass by doing nothing) you'll have until Jan 1 to buy one.  After that you'll have until April 2006 to register it (unless you want to become a fellon).

After Jan 1 2005 they will be treated exactly like "Assault Weapons" under SB23.

I did a search a little while ago looking for status of the bill and came up with zip.  Anyone have any current information if Arnold is going to let it slide or veto it?

Do you own one?
If the answer is No, then the answer is Yes to your original question.

The law applies to ANYTHING that shoots .50 BMG.

Crap, I guess that will make semi-auto 1919's "Assault Weapons" as well.

Buy one while you can. They are sure to be on the next AWB
