Just got off the phone with Colt and they said possible AR-15 marked rifles to be produced for civilians!  However all new rifles will come without a lug because "all tooling is currently not set up for lugs and some states ban them."  Oh well at least possibility of a stripped lower marked "AR-15"!  Official statement to be released Monday!

Err, I thought that the lugs were ground off.  Aren't they on all Colt LEO & Military guns?

Sooo lemme get this straight. Colt no longer is tooled up to produce a rifle with a bayonette lug? More likely they don't want to produce one with a lug. They weinied out before the ban even took effect. Screw em.

The LEO/Mil rifles do have lugs.  But isn't Colt two seperate companies?  I'd imagine it'd be possible that Colt Defense is set up for that tooling but Colt Manufacturing is not?

I don't know, I'm just a guitar player.

I'm pretty sure those .mil Colt M4s and M16A4s have lugs.

I talked to a live person.  They basically said no lugs.  I asked why.  They said some states have bans on lugs.  I said "So" my state dosn't.  That is when he said possibility of a couple of models marked AR-15 but should check back monday for official statement.

A NIB Colt LE6920 that I groped this week- was made by Colt Defense. It has the B-lug.

I also read on their site that in November ('02 I believe) they divided the company into two parts- Colt Defence and Colt Mfg.

If so, and if the post'er is correct, I wonder which one is offering the 'new Colt' to civies?

wasn't somebody on here posting a few weeks ago bragging about how their ar-15 marked "ar-15" was worth sooo much money because it was marked "ar-15"?

oh well.  maybe you can convince people that its a "pre-ar-15" ar-15.

Who cares?

Hmmm, COLT making half ass AR15's again? How can someone get excited about a company, who sold out years ago to appease the anti's, is once again producing rifles that appease them????

Pffft.

PS. I own a COLT
