Should I run to Walmart and pick something up, or download something over the internet?  Any help/suggestions appreciated.  Thanks.

I had bad luck with Norton.  Went to McAfee, all is well.

I've had GREAT success with McAffe.  You shall not be disappointed.

ETA:  Save yourself a lot of trouble - do it over the net.

This free one is okay... but you need to get Mcafee, Norton Anti-Virus, or something like that. It's essential with all these asshats making virii all the time.

I use McAffe, Norton and AVG.

I now prefer McAffe, AVG works fine; I use Norton 2003 but will not use 2004 due to repeated problems.

If I had to make a recommendation I would say AVG because it works and is FREE.

Ditto. I used Norton for years, but the security suite went haywire on me. Ditched it for McAfee & all is good again.

I use Norton in conjunction Internet Security Sysems's Black Ice.  I also run Spybot and Ad-aware for spam and popups.  Absolutely zero problems for the last year since I started this regimen.

P.S.  If you're not using  Mozilla Firefox for your browser, do so.  Microsoft is more prone to trouble because all the hackers and vicious code  writers want a piece of the big guy for bragging rights.

I have McAfee at work and Norton 2004 at home. I prefer Norton.

I've used Norton AV for years with zero problems.  In fact, they are very pro-active in updating theior virus definitions and relasing them through their "LiveUpdate" feature (a painless way to get the latest virus protection).

I also use Norton Personal Firewall with zero problems.

The new Service Pack 2 for Windows XP comes with both a firewall and AV software.
