Yes, they should stop using goats. I think the training would be much more realistic if the training were done on actual people. So I say we abandon goats and bring the military lots of PETA members to take their place.

Hey, that's not such a bad idea. If these animal lovers are so committed to their cause, lets see them make a real sacrifice on the animal's behalf! I say we issue them the challange and see just how committed they really are.

The doctors where I work used to train on goats. They had a room in the basement of a building here that they kept them in. I haven't seen any around here in several years though.

Why not? I heard farm boys parctice on sheep, and when I was in Non-Lawyer Legal School at Newport, RI there was this case about a Marine and a chicken. as a subject for a lesson.

This is another example of a poor polling sample. It should be limited to soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who will be treated by medics. Otherwise, the polling results will be skewed by those who will never have to deal with a medic.

The poll also may have some goat favoritism skewing the results. Thus, the poll should have included several types of animals (other than sheep which is always a prejudicial favorite for some reason).

I am active duty USAF and I say HELL YES!!! Get practice on whatever it takes to become proficient. Goats, dogs, PETA idiots, any other tree huggers out there, etc…

I am stationed at Peterson AFB which is about 10 miles from Ft Carson. When the story broke this morning, they had the local tree huggers on TV pissing and moaning about the poor goats.

Screw the goats (of course, not literally!). The damn things are headed to a dinner table near you anyway. Might as well get some use out of them. They are under heavy anesthesia when the wounds are inflicted, so they don’t feel anything anyway.

Remember, these "people" are of the same ilk as that fuckstick who wrote a letter to the PLO to please consider using something other than donkeys to make the bombs they send into crowds of unarmed isrealies.

When asked to clarify, he was careful to insist that he was not asking them to stop bombing, since that wasn't his business to ask, just that they stop hurting the donkeys.

Fuck the humane society and fuck the goats. The experience is invaluable for the medics.

Being an ex Army medic I can tell you that the goat lab is one of the best trauma courses the Army offers for medics. Invaluable would be an appropriate term.
