to our universities that turned them into such anti-american socialist institutes? Does anyone have a rational explaination for this.

100% job security mixed with a bit of encouragement to think "Different".

Bad combination.

Throw in a mix of folks who generally couldn't 'hack it' in the real world, and have no reality to intrude into their sterile 'theories".

For the extreme %, these social teachers have never held a real job in their lives. Most have entered the teaching field to "make a difference" & thus are already preordained to be of socialist leanings.

Colleges, particularly those concentrating on the liberal arts,  has always been a venue where thinking outside the box has been encouraged. Thinking that way tends to be a liberal specialty; conservatives by nature tend to stick to the tried and true.

The problem lies in the fact that sitting  faculty members with a voice in who gets hired to fill vacancies in their department  tend to not follow that open-mindedness when considering  new hires and go for candidates who reflect their own belief systems; visiting professors who are  the candidates for full time position vacancies  who are recomended for premanent hire tend to be those who happen to share the political beliefs of the majority of the sitting faculty.
