To get around the problem of different peoples' computers being set to different times and different time zones, given the fact that the ban expires Sunday night at midnight EASTERN time regardless of where you are located, I made this countdown clock get the time from the server, and it calculates the time remaining until expiration from that (since it's a known).

So, what I'm saying is that I doubt it will work correctly if the SWF file is downloaded to your local machine (which I assume you'd have to do to make it a screensaver).

If you have broadband, isnt there a way to make your background a webpage?  Cant you just set it to that?

I think it has something to do with Active Desktop, but I may be wrong.

Actually, cancel that... it will apparently work even if you download the file, as long as you have an internet connection active at that moment for it to contact the time reporting script on the server.

It only has to contact the server once.  At that point, it calculates an offset and uses your computer's clock to run the countdown from then on (unless it is reloaded, in which case it will need to talk to the server again).

If you downloaded the SWF, you might want to download it again... I made some changes to better handle reaching zero.

According to this clock the ban expires on midnight the 12th, so the 13th will be the first "free" day for AW's in 10 years. Now are we all on the same page?

Here's a program you can use to convert the swf to a wallpaper:

www.multidmedia.com/software/flashcandy/trial/index.php?action=download&

It's a trial version so it will put an annoying logo in the top left corner, but it does work.

Flash Wallpaper works better.

Also try Flash Wallpaper - it's free for personal use and seems to do the trick.
