From 3.5% down to 1.2%?

Geez, talk about a non-issue in first place.

Time to call these people at their homes and voice what our Constitutional rights are. No direct personal threats, just a call at their homes will do the trick to end this crap.

Actually the trace data is suspect to begin with. Not all traces done on weapons are for weapons related to (violent)crimes or even crimes period. Many are done to determine who they were stolen from as well so they can be returned to the proper owner. Even the BATFE said that the trace data is being misrepresented. AWs were used in less than 2%of crimes commited with firearms before the ban, and durring the ban that didn't change much, and after the ban is dead in a couple days it's not going to change much.  Another thing is that they don't include in the data weather or not it was an illegaly converted to AW configuration gun.

Lots of BS from the antigunners but we already know that.

Sen. Gilda Jacobs is a known crazy anti-gun nut.  How she keeps getting re-elected is beyond me.

BTW, don't call her office to complain, she will turn you in for making death threats against her.  Seriously.

Years ago this nut job came out with some anti-gun legislation.  Afterwards she publicly claimed that she started getting calls from "irrate gun owners" who made death threats against her, stalked her, and destroyed her personal property.  They also supposedly stalked and harrassed her son.  Yet no one was ever charged.  What really happend is people called her office and chewed her out and showed up at her political rallies to question her on her stance.

Do the Republicans still hold the House and Senate in Michigan?  If so then you don't have anything to worry about.  If they don't, who knows what your Canadian born, Democrat, California educated, female Governor might be able to push through.

I hope you guys don't get screwed.

Here is a letter that I will be sending to my Representitives:

It has recently come to my attention that Representative Bill McConico and Senator Gilda Jacobs have announced their intentions to introduce legislation that would create an Assault Weapons Ban in the State of Michigan, when the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban expires this September.

I am writing to inform you of my vehement opposition to any laws restricting the firearm ownership rights of law abiding citizens of the State of Michigan! Recent events show that although law abiding citizens in this nation are denied access to "assault weapons", criminals are still able to acquire these same weapons with ease!

As recently as a few months ago, in the city of Detroit, a man fired upon a house with an AK-47, killing 3 people and wounding one. This past weekend, we saw in the city of Detroit yet another tragic murder committed. This time a man killed 2 people, including a police cadet, and wounded one outside a bar using an AK-47. These acts are a testament to the ineffectiveness of the Assault Weapons Ban in stopping violence for 2 reasons:

1. The AK-47s that were used in these incidents were banned by the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban. Yet on two seperate occasions in this city, criminals were able to acquire AK-47s and use them to commit murder!

2. The person who committed the murders in the first incident was arrested in Minnesota, and found to have been a convicted felon! As you know, it is illegal under federal law for convicted felons to possess firearms.

The 1994 Assault Weapons Ban did nothing to prevent either of these tragedies! Although AK-47s are currently illegal, criminals still seem to have "assault weapons" readily available to them.

The only people who are effected by the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban are the law abiding citizens who are being denied the free excercise of the Second amendment rights, and their rights under the Michigan State Constitution. It is time to stop limiting the rights of law abiding citizens in an futile attempt to control the actions of criminals!

I thank you in advance for taking a stand against an Assault Weapons Ban in the State of Michigan, and I look forward to supporting you during your next campaign.

With Regards,

Everybody in unison, "Thank you Detroit!"
Just like the rest of the gun laws the other 90% of a peacefull state suffer due to the violence of the few.
