When this happens here, no amount of reperation or training is ging to make a difference, Once the evil has taken over the school, it is all over, the only real effective strategy would be something that would stop the attack in its early stages, before the evil bastards ae in control of the situation. Once they have taken control it is all over, and a single survivor will be as close to a victory as you can expect.

There will be no point in open debate, for some of us the descision is already made, we realize the gravity of the situation, for the rest, they will go on looking for never never land, where bad things just don't happen.

I disagree.  Its more really a matter of adapting to the situation presented.  Police officers in the Domestic sense are the internal armed force of this nation.  The military is by definition the external armed force of this nation.  To that end, it is preferable to have the police handle internal matters.  The police are trained with the philosophy of causing as little damage as possible.  The military by their very job description kills people and breaks things.  

The Professional Police officer through training and education knows when it is time to be peaceful and officer friendly.  He also knows how to put on his war face when he is presented with war, although on a micro scale.  We learned for absolute sure, in 1970 that the military does a piss poor job of dealing with internal police related matters.  This is however a new paradigm.  The police must adapt to deal with this new reality.  It is really unlike anything which we are used to.  I however, trust the police to do what they are trained to do which is minimize damage and use that minimum necessary to control the situation.  I don't want the military making war on our soil.  In reality, the first responders to these incidents will be the patrol officers of this nation.  They will have to know what to do and be better trained and better equipped to deal with this sort of threat.  Interagency and intra agency cross training will be the key.  So will having the right tools for the job.  Many have asked here why patrol officers are increasingly dumping their shotguns for ARs.  This is why.  Its a new world folks and having our first responders prepared may well be our key to survival.  A dictatorship? Not hardly.  We would not stand for it, and neither would the police administrators I personally know.  We love freedom every bit as much as the next guy and even the first guy.  We do however recognize the need to be able to deal with the threats that are presented to us and will in the nation's interest prepare as best we can to deal with them.   Welcome to Israel, I hope our stay is uneventful.
