Police charge 11-year-old in attack on 3 children
By Rodney L. Sherman, CLARION NEWS Editor

KNOX - An 11-year-old Knox boy faces numerous charges after he allegedly assaulted two girls, ages 7 and 10 and a 9-year-old boy, an adult male and a police officer in an incident during which the suspect also threw gasoline on the victims.

According to Knox Borough Police Chief Stephen Bilunka, borough police responded to a 7:30 p.m. Aug. 30 incident at the intersection of Petrolia and East State streets where the suspect allegedly assaulted the three victims with a steel bar and a large piece of wood.

“He (the suspect) had the 7-year-old girl up against a wall and the steel bar pressed up against her throat,” Bilunka told the Clarion News. “He had the 9-year-old boy by his hair and hit him in the ribs with a two-by-four piece of wood.”

The male victim suffered bruised ribs.

“He (the suspect) was playing with the other kids and he just flipped out,” said Bilunka. “It was an unprovoked attack.”

The suspect allegedly then grabbed a nearby gas can and threw gasoline on two of the other children and attempted to set them ablaze.

“If he had had a match or a lighter we would have been responding to a very tragic fire,” said Bilunka. “He told us if he would have had his lighter with him he would have set them on fire.”

An adult male attempted to intervene and the suspect allegedly threw gasoline on the adult male’s vehicle and threatened to set it on fire.

The suspect was apprehended by police after a three-block foot chase.

The suspect was arrested and allegedly kicked one police officer in the groin area. The suspect allegedly told police he had a gun and was going to “shoot the f****** police.”

When police put the suspect into the back of a patrol car, the suspect allegedly attempted to kick out the windows of the car.

Bilunka said the suspect has been in trouble with police before.

The suspect faces charges of attempted arson, simple assault, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and making terroristic threats.

The case was filed with the Clarion County Juvenile Probation Office. Because the suspect is 11 years old, his name was not released.n

Just go ahead and give him about 20-25 years in jail.  It will save time and money in the future.
