What to Make of Miller's Speech?
Friday, September 03, 2004 By Brit Hume •What to Make of Miller's Speech? The latest from the Political Grapevine: What to Make of Miller's Speech? Zell Miller's (search) speech last night went over badly not only with Democrats, but much of the media. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee called it, "obnoxious, hate filled, caustic ... wild-eyed, [and] vicious," adding, "Zell Miller is a self aggrandizing old curmudgeon." Time Magazine's Joe Klein called it, "angry... [and] ugly." And The Wall Street Journal's Al Hunt said, "[Miller] was passionate when he was a racist 30 years ago ... and now he's passionate as a Republican." Hunt was referring to the fact that Miller once worked for Georgia's axe-handle wielding segregationist Governor, Lester Maddox, something national media never mentioned as long as Miller was a loyal democrat. Fucking democrats and fucking liberal puke news media... ETA: sorry if this is a dupe. If it is, please whack it... |
Come on give the guy a break. Were you the same 20 years ago?
I hope not. I was a reg'd Dem at the early part of my life, but became a gunner and a Republican later in life. It is no crime to switch parties. |
I'm not knocking Zell. He is great! The man speaks the kind of brutal truth that makes liberal democrats cringe in their tu-tus! Hell, he's the best spokesman the GOP has right now! I was referring to the socialist liberal news media that never in 30 years mentioned the fact that Zell Miller worked for a segregationist governor strictly because he was a democrat. Had he been a republican, that tidbit of information would have made news the first time he campaigned for office. |

Still I think Sen. Miller is still not the same person back then as today. At my local swimming pool, one of the people who lived in this area for many years, still remembers that white people going to the pool on Mon, Weds, Fri; black(non-whites) people on Tu, Th & Sa. Of course today, that is long gone. |

Why are you guys suprised, he was the key note speaker at the annual NRA bash several years ago, that's when I started listening to him. He is an old South Democrat, which is what the Republican party currently is. Go figure. His party changed , he didn't.
Democrats can't get past the fact that they have already lost the election, it was lost on Sept. 11, 2001. Zell Miller is the only person who can save the Democratic party, trouble is they don't want to be saved. |
His point isn't that he's a different person now,
it is that he is/was a democrat 30 years ago and it was alright in the media for him to be a "racist" until he gave that speech for the Republicans. Now he is evil. WTF?? So he wasn't hateful THEN??? Hypocrites. |
Funny...I didn't see Robert "Grand Wizard of the KKK" Byrd mentioned in that article
SENATOR ROBERT BYRD, WHO IS CURRENTLY THE SENATE PRO TEMPORE, IS THIRD IN LINE TO BECOME PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
ROBERT BYRD WAS A RECRUITER FOR THE KU KLUX KLAN AND EARNED $10 FOR EACH AND EVERY NEW RECRUIT. HE HAS NEVER DENIED IT. |
There was a time when being a racist was part and parcel to being a southern democrat. Remember "Dixiecrats"? Strom Thurmond ran for president as a "Dixiecrat". He was a good 'ol boy until he seen the light and switched to the Republican party. His ability to change with the times led him to a very long and successful political career. He was 100 years old when he finally retired. Yes, people change. What doesn't change is the socialist liberal news media that is very choosy about the news it chooses to publish. |
That is not quite right. You did not have to be a racist to being a southern democrat, but you sure in hell did have to deal with racist to being a southern democrat. There is no evidence that Zell Miller was ever a racist other than guilt by association and plenty of evidence he was never a racist. Now if guilt by association is the standard lets name some Democrats: Ted Kennedy – His farther was an avid racist Robert Byrd – Member of racist organizations Fritz “Fog-Horn-Leg-Horn” Hollings – Member of racist organizations Al Gore – His farther was an avid racist Ect, Ect, Ect. |

All anyone has to do is look and see what kind advancement black people made under Lester Maddox here in GA. After he came into office he did more to help the black people of the state of GA advance than anyone before him. What he was pissed off about was the Federal gov't intruding on states rights. His record speaks for itself. Was he an asshole? Yes. Racist? No...although he was easily mistaken for one at times. |

I said those exact words less than two hours ago!!! ...okay, I actually said, "He's the old type democrat which the Republican Party has become. Thje Democrat Party changed, not him." Damn close enough! |
Hell even Herbert Humphrey as liberal as he could be on social issues was strong on national defense. The Democratic Party was never the same after 1968. |

Al Hunt is a foaming at the mouth fucking socialist!
Of course Zell Miller is a racist...he isn't a "real" [socialist] Democrat any more...ergo he MUST be a Nazi racist. They are cracking up! |

More from that article:
www.southerncurrents.com/misc/maddox.htm BTW, the McKinney they refer to in this article is none other than Bill McKinney, fatehr of the communist Cythina McKinney who is a U.S. Representative in Congress. I could start another thread on some of the crap they have pulled at the polling places, corruption, and the blaming of Jews for her getting defeated in the last election. Cynthia McKinney was the one that told the Saudi Prince, "Well take your money if Guilliani (sp?) won't!) Her and her father are communist assholes!

I wonder if he reported that income to the I.R.S.? If not maybe he should go to prison for tax evasion. |

Speaking of Herbert Humphrey:

Dude, is that real or photoshopped? |
Of course it's real! shhhhhh! |
True. |

Other Dems with a racist past: Byrd (KKK employee and recruiter), Hollings (KKK member) and even Jimmy Carter, who courted the segregationist vote when he ran for governor of Georgia.
