Is this the one where the villian is played from specially cut and enhanced clips of Sir Lawrence Oliveir?

The producer is a client of mine, I knew about this film from years ago, been to their animation farm a few times and helped them with some IT stuff off and on.  For those who care (Mac users love to point out Macs used in movies and shit, PC users couldn't care less) they used tons of Macs to do the animation, and this movie transformed a die hard PC user (Jon Avnet) into a die hard Mac user . I hope it does well for him.  Go see this movie and help my pocket book a little

The trailer I saw made it look kind of retro.  My gut tells me it is going to be a stinker.  I'll wait till one of you post a review.  I have gotten good advice here the last couple of months on what to avoid.

Go to Best buy and get a FREE Sky Captain trailer DVD....while you are there you can get Resident Evil Delux Version (w/ a ticket for RE Apocolypse) for $14.99 (or you need to make them match Circuit City price of $12.99)

I bet it's going to do well in the box office, the producer (Jon Avnet) has done many films that you all will remember, among them, Risky Business, Fried Green Tomatoes, Mighty Ducks, Boomtown.  I'm going to their office tomorrow, they're selling off the computer equipment used in the movie, probably will pick up a server or switch

Yes. reviews indicate a fun movie. No 'messages', just swashbuckling entertainment.

Seen lots of trailers on tv for it.  Everytime I see one I have 2 conflicting reactions.  One is that it is really cool looking, and the other is that it looks downright retarded.  Haven't decided which one wins out yet.

What I heard was that the world in the movie is based on things shown at the world fair from sometime in the early 20th century.  That's why it looks retro.

It's because it was based on the game "Crimson Skies", which is based on films and fantasy of the mid to late 1930s.

It sure does!

I like Crimson Skies. Awesome little game.

And the movie looks great! I've been waiting a while for this one.

Good luck to your friend QCMGR. The movie will get my money, and I'm sure I won't be the only one to go see it.

I read the book when my wife picked it up at the library. Yup, it blends fantasy and the aerospace fascination of the 1930's. Similar in genre to say "The Rocketeers".
Since I know the whole plot and how it ends, I suppose I won't bother to see it.

I saw it Tues night with my 7 year old step daughter. She liked it. It had some cool parts. Its mostly off the charts on the cheese factor. Gwynyth Paltrow sucked and was totally not pulling off her part. Jude Law was ok. Angelina was pretty damn cool but was only in a small part. I won't give anything away unless you want me too. I am not very picky when it comes to movies but this one wasnt very good. Special effects were pretty good but the goofy lighting to make it look like an old timey movie were overdone. I really don't know what to think about it.

BTW I got a free pass to the preview. If I had paid $7-8 a head to see it I would have been disappointed.

I called his house last week and he did not answer.  Unfortunately, it has been that way for ten years.  He is one of those guys that you do not hear from for a long time then suddenly calls out of the blue. (When I finally do hear from him I will see what I can do )

Fingers crossed
