So why was Miller a keynote speaker at the 1992 DNC, chairman of the 1996 Democratic Platform Committee, and co-chair of Gore's 2000 leadership PAC if he's such a conservative? Don't makee any sense. Is he feeling okay?

Because Clinton and Gore fooled him into thinking they were southern conservative Democrats just like him.

So are you to have everyone believe that Miller is either a moron, or what?

No, just enlightened to the fact that the people he supported left this country un-defended and that led directly to Americans getting killed (USS Cole, 9/11, etc, etc, etc).

He's a man with a strong sense of loyalty to his party, a loyalty that took a long time and a lot of bad experiences to undo.

Substantively it clearly painted with too broad a brush, at times suggesting Kerry & Co. are more than merely wrong, they are hostile to America.

Totally DISagree with this.  Kerry and Edwards ARE hostile to what *I* think America is all about.  They are Socialists of the highest order.  Elitists that think they know better how you should live, how to spend YOUR money and seek other nations approval for our actions, "for the greater good."

Fuck being "PC".  This nation is in DEEP SHIT if Kerry gets elected.

If Kerry gets elected, expect terrorism by the bucketful on our shores.

You can't be for AND against every issue as it relates to the War on Terror without emboldening your enemy.

Quoted:

Matthew Yglesias of The American Prospect, dripping with nuance, denounced the speech as a “fascistic tirade.” The New Republic openly compared Miller to Joe McCarthy. Jonathan Cohn explained that Miller was much worse than Buchanan because “Buchanan's speech, after all, was an assault on decency. Last night Miller declared war on democracy.” Time’s Joe Klein declared on CNN, "I don't think I've seen anything as angry or as ugly as Miller's speech."

Andrew Sullivan, a senior editor at The New Republic and a highly regarded blogger, noted the contrast between the Boston Dem’s keynoter, Barak Obama — “a post-racial, smiling, expansive young American” — and the Republicans’. “Then you see Zell Miller, his face rigid with anger, his eyes blazing with years of frustration as his Dixiecrat vision became slowly eclipsed among the Democrats. Remember who this man is: once a proud supporter of racial segregation, a man who lambasted LBJ for selling his soul to the negroes.”

In other words, when Democrats are mean or harsh they are labeled as passionate populists or some such. When Republicans are mean or harsh they get called things like “Cotton Mather behind the cross” (Maureen Dowd’s words). What is “righteous anger” for Democrats becomes “hate” when offered by Republicans or, in this case, like-minded Democrats.

Where were all these leftist fools when their boy John was spouting all this "high-road" rhetoric:

Direct Quotes From The Horse's Mouth:

"we need a regime change in the United States"

"he built a fraudulent coalition".

"My God, what's the matter with the values of these people? This is the most screwed-up, misplaced values."

"I left some blood on a battlefield that President Bush never left anywhere"

"I don't need any lessons in patriotism or in caring about America from the likes of the right wing"

"[I  won't] be silenced by their fake-patriotism argument"

"This administration is running the most arrogant, inept, reckless, ideological foreign policy in the modern history of this country"

"The arrogance, and the sheer sort of, almost stupidity of it, is stunning"

"Did I expect George Bush to fuck it up as badly as he did? I don't think anybody did."

"Worse than incompetent. Clouded by ideological excess, a misinterpretation of history, a willful denial of facts."

"the president and his henchmen, decided today to question my commitment to the defense of our nation,"

"This president lives out a creed of greed for he and his friends.... You know what I call that? Unpatriotic."

"given the record of this administration and their stunning lack of vision, the Republican attack machine may well have no choice but to resort to smear and fear."

~ John Kerry, during the Democratic Primaries, 2003-2004.

Or these choice nuggets of moderate discourse from the Corpulent Tick:

"Shamefully, we now learn that Saddam's torture chambers reopened under new management: U.S. management."
~ Ted Kennedy, Tuesday, May 11, 2004.

"What has not ended is the resolution and the determination of the members of the United States Senate to continue to resist any Neanderthal, that is nominated by this president of the United States for any federal court in the United States."
~ Ted Kennedy, November 14, 2003. A Lexis-Nexis search two days later showed that Kennedy's remark has been covered by just three newspapers nationwide.

"There was no imminent threat. This was made up in Texas, announced in January to the Republican leadership that war was going to take place and was going to be good politically. This whole thing was a fraud... My belief is this money is being shuffled all around to these political leaders in all parts of the world, bribing them to send in troops."
~  Ted Kennedy, September 18, 2003, regarding the war in Iraq.

It's odd that the media has only now just discovered Zell's "racist" past.  Apparently, it was never an issue when he was a "good" Democrat.

I guess we should be hearing very shortly from the media about Senator "KKK" Byrd.

Or would that just be dreaming?

No, he did know. He was hardly new to the Democratic party prior to becoming a senator.

The politics of the STATE Democratic Party in Georgia are widely divergent from that of the national party.

He was a governor...he worked on the state level.  He may have participated in fundraising and campaigning, but he was not part of policy.

Uh, actually he WAS "part of policy." Sorry if you're having reading difficulties, but it was posted earlier that he chaired the 1996 Platform Committee. That would mean that he oversaw the Democrats' policy on a NATIONAL (as in NATIONWIDE) level. That means OUTSIDE of Georgia.
