Sweet!
That's whats so cool about these old battle rifles. I've got a Springfield M1 that's numbered around the first 400,000. It's still got the original barrel marked 11-41....before Pearl harbor...too kewl! Who knows what that rifles seen or where it's been? Gives me goose bumps. |

The DCM/CMP Garands have been rebuilt many times, over the past years or so, and most of them don't have the original parts.

Mine is a beautiful rifle made at Springfield Armory in Jan 1945.
The barrel says 1951. |

Stop Bogarting all the GarandS!!!! My FFL has at least 10 guys on a list to call if a Garand comes into his shop. And all these guys have at least 10 Garands. Let someone else take a chance at them. |

 One of my garands was built around the second week of December 1941 - right after Pearl Harbor, so I imagine the workers building it were filled with righteous anger! |

my SA garand is a pre-war rifle, it was built in september, 1940. It served in WW2 and after that was lent to the Danish army, where some dutch guy may have fondled it. It has a 5-digit serial #.
 My Winchester garand was made in the fall of 1943, and it also was used by the Danish army after serving in WW2.

Just got my SA last month, built Aug of 41 and rebarreled in July of 44. If they could talk I am sure the war stories would be good. My father never talked much about his WW II experiences or about his bronze star or how he got the purple heart. But he did say he carried a tommy gun and came home on the Queen Mary after he was wounded in Germany. I think a lot of WW II vets considered their service a necessary job and then came home to raise families and get on with their lives. If you get a chance thank a vet for his service, doesn't matter if it was 60 years ago or last month, you all have done a fine job for your country.
