I know (well, to be honest, I assume) there are alot of questionable works in the Vatican's library.  Stuff I am sure the Catholic church would not want out, dead sea scrolls, stuff like that.

Anyone have any recommendations for books to read on this subject?

Thanks

BTW, I am Catholic (really, non-practicing) and I am just curious.
Need something good to read.

Not of hand I don't.  But if you do find a book about it I highly suggest you read one actually written by a Christian that isn't out to degrade the Church, but just presents the facts.

Lots of other Christians LOVE to hate Catholics.

The Dead Sea Scrolls will provide little information about Jesus or early Christian history.  They were written by a small group of Jews, who did not believe Jesus to be the Messiah.  They will provide an interesting look into how people of their group lived during that time.

If you are looking for something good to read, I would recommend "Capitalism and Freedom" by Milton Friedman.  Off your topic, I know, but I am halfway through this book and love it.
