Blended metal rounds have been discussed here before. Some say it's bunk, others disagree.

I saw a demonstration of these rounds on either the Discovery or History channel, and it looked convincing to me. But I'm far from knowledgeable about this stuff.

If you search the forums, you'll probably find the old threads.

I've read things from people that have actually used them and they swear by them. I'll take the word of someone that has actually used them in actually combat.

The Blended Metal contraversy is a good one. They make claims about them that just defy common sense. More poop than pop....

Check out the Todd J. Video.
I am lucky enough to shoot down at Blackwater in the IPSC matches. he sometimes shoots those matches.
He is fast, I mean SSSOOOOOO FAST. With a pistol and rifle he has very few peers.

I thought that the .223 round was ineffective and soldiers were dumping 30 round magazines into guys only to have them return fire at them ... now this is a round that's "too lethal" to use in combat

please make up your minds. If SS109 is that poor and this blended metal round is that bad how come we can't find something in the middle? This story will become the gospel here and you?ll have people spouting this hamburger stuff here for years and years. Mark my words.

All that wtaching makes me long to visit Blackwater again....

TJ is pretty fast. I have shot those very same ranges numerous times, and I do fairly well at clearing the plate rack.

But TJ has a lot more control over the pistol than I do, as you can see that even a .45 barely moves in his hands when he shoots. My grip is not quite that strong, though I am working on it.

IIRC, I read in Black Hawk Down, that the Delta Force guys hated the SS109 rd because it just went straight through. Personally, I want what ever does the most damage in a combat situation. Screw being PC...war should never be PC.

...and we've already had some knock down drag outs on this subject in the Ammo forum.
