I use Microsoft Word and am writing an experience letter for myself and keep getting the little squiggly, green line under "I" everytime I begin a sentence with it.  When I click on it it tells me to "consider revising", because I'm using first person.

How am I supposed to tell a story about myself if I can't use the word "I"?  I passed my English classes.  (Oops, there I go again.)

Right click, "Ignore this rule." Microsoft's grammar engine is tuned for school kids doing book reports.
