Easily one of my favorite films.  The scene at the end on the bridge brings tears to my eyes.

Saw the preview for this on my copy of Master and Commander (I like it btw).  Looked like a pretty cool flick that I missed.  Pardon me for sounding like a girly man, but the little girl is just precious.

Might pick it up on general principle that it has guns and things blowing up.

There are a lot of good scenes with Denzel shooting up bad guys with his trusty Glock...a 34 and a 19 later on in the movie...

Maybe I'll see this one... I liked Training Day and Fallen, but didn't really have too much of a interest in any of the others lately.

Anyone else notice how he almost always plays cop? Strange huh?

Yeah, most of them.  In this movie, he was a former SF.

French Foreign Legion, via the Marine Corps, at least in the book.

Every man has his art.  Creasy's art is death, and he's about to paint his masterpeice.

I liked the movie.  He showed what happens when someone pisses off the wrong guy.  I'll be getting that when it comes out on DVD.

Damn I'm a big fan of Denzel Washington.

I can't really think of a film that he wasn't good in.

Check out "A Soldier's Story" and you'll see the beginnings of his great work.  Love that film.

He was also great in Manchurian Candidate and of course, Training Day.  SUPER performance there.

Not a Legionnaire, one of the courses he been on was  the French Army jungle warfare course in the French Guyana. He was a Force Recon Marine.

Holy sht! I just watched the movie, and I gotta say that it friggen rocked!

The cinematography and editing were incredible. And this is the first time I liked a movie with Denzel in it.

Lots of guns too.

He was a Marine in Korea in the book, kicked out for striking an officer IIRC. Joined the FFL because he had nowhere to go. The book sucked. All prep and no action.

This is the movie the Punnisher should have been. slap a black t-shirt with a skull on denzel and it is.

SPOILER

The only thing that could have been better is at the end, since he knew he was going to die, he should have had one of thoese "special" butt bombs and blew up that car as they drove away.

That would have sucked.  I would rather die in piece than know that I've blown myself up by shoving something up my ass.

Also in the last scene with the father, the magazine was removed from the Glock yet after he pulled the trigger you see it laying on the floor with it's slide locked open.  Oops.

I've never read the book but the movie left alot to be desired.

Unless you freeze frame, you have no idea what his credentials are. They go on and on about how bad he is, but never tell you why. There is one blurb about "11 years in counter-terrorism" but that's not really that descriptive.

What left him so fucked up? The whole movie we know he is but not why.

No vest?

Butt bombs....waaaaay cool.

The wife was asking for it. He should have obliged her.

Overall I liked it, but they could have fleshed it out just a bit more. 10 more minutes would have gone a long way.

good flick.  rare shoot em up with a real story.

not only does denzel always play a cop, he always plays THE SAME COP.

would you bring a dude who looked like denzel home to your hotasswife?

The technical details were pretty good.  Early in the movie, when he tries to shoot himself and experiences a misfire, he ejects the round and takes a look at it.  Sure enough, the dent in the primer is rectangular instead of round -- just what you would get from a Glock.  I was surprised they got a little thing like that correct.

Great moving with one GLARING Error----

When he goes on his rampage,  he's all jocked up.  Guns,   explosives,  even a friggin RPG or two,  but a bulletproof vest?  Nah,  never seen one.

I loved the movie but I thought a guy PURPOSFULLY going in harms way w/o a vest was sort of stupid.  You could have even ended it the same way with a shot under the lip or in a side panel but I thought it was a glaring oversight.

Great flick though, that little girl was a cutie,   my 3 year old looks a lot like her.

I liked the movie... some small things bothered me.  like the lack of body armor and the ending - I thought he went out like a punk.

My wife slapped me in the theater when I blurted out "If he's such a professional why doesn't he have any body-armor."

Are there any deleted scenes or alternate ending on the DVD?
