Natchez has been selling it for about 2 years.

Their shipping can be high, so depending on where you live Ammoman could be cheaper.

It's great stuff.

why would the gov make .45 auto ammo?

I guess marine recon/special forces use it but doesn't seem like there would be that much of a demand.

I bought 1,000 rounds of it.  I should get it on the 7th.  I won't know how hot it is until I get a chance to shoot it, and who knows when that might be, since I don't even own a .45 yet!

Most USGI 45 ball is surplus.

FAXM1911 45ACP NATO SPEC 230 GR FMJ 10.88 20 2.8 Lbs. 55.6 Lbs. $ 217.6

Subtotal Items:  55.6 Lbs. $217.6 plus shipping

Ammoman:  $219- 1,000 rounds. including shipping.

So unless you live someplace that can ship 55.6 lbs for $1.40, Eric is going to be the better deal

No this is new manufactured ammo, match grade, 230gr hard ball, Federal,  Lake City

Why are they making it, heck I dont know, but they did/are, and I wanted some of it, so I got some of it, also got a email from Ammoman, that prices are going to increase next week on this lot of ammo....

I thought it looked a lot like Federal when I opened it and noticed that slight ring around the cartridge about 1/3 down the case.  That stuff doesn't actually feed particularly well in my Colt 1991A1 - but it works great in all my other 1911's

I have never found Ammomans prices to be competitive.  Even at delivered prices their still too high.

Might be - I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the federal ammo, but just that my 1991A1 is picky.

- it's ironic that of all my 45s, the only one that's finnicky about ammo is the one that I purchased new.  I've got a WW2 1911A1Remington Rand, several 1927 Sistemas (identical to the 1911A1), several Ballester-Molinas, and all of them will eat any ammo.  The Colt 1991A1 will eat most ammo, but not the federal that has the slight ring in the casing.

With other ammo, the 1991A1 runs fine - it seems to be particualry picky with the federal stuff.

How's it compare to UMC yellowbox speed wise?

I can pick that up all the time for $9.99/box at Dicks sporting goods.

I bought my case from Ammoman and will be trying it out this weekend in my USP .45F at a local IDPA match.

I bought a case and a half the last time he had it at couple of years ago i think it`s been. First case was `99 stamped, and the second order was "match" `01 stamped case heads, canalured(sp?) brass, sealed primers. I believe the primers have that "crimp" around the primer that makes it tougher to get them out for those who reload. It is better than any other ball i have had.

Thanks.  I didn't realize there was new stuff out there.  The USGI .45 ammo I got a couple of years ago was corrosive.  I cleaned my gun properly and had no problems with it.

OK I fired 50 rounds of this ammunition today during an IDPA match.  Mine was headstamped "LC 02 Match".

Observations by me and others around me:

- It's loud.  Some people thought I had a 10mm HK USP or was shooting +P or +P+ ammo
- It kicks more than for example UMC, and definitely more than Blazer
- It's good looking ammunition with a red primer sealer

One of the guys with a chrono is going to chronograph it.

Uncle Sugar still buys M1911 BALL and MATCH BALL. The Newest 45 ammo I have been issued for target shooting " Leg Match " is 02 headstamped  " Federal Match Ball " in white boxes in 1000 can.

Most of the straight issue M19111 BALL that I have gotten has been 1980's TZZ (IMI) 85,86,87,89 and 90's Winchester production.
