Though I am not a fan of selling guns, I have sold a couple in my time. Most have led to better purchases, meaning that I got something that I like to shoot more or shoot better. There have been 2 that I completely regret selling. Those 2 I shot frequently, but sold to finance other projects. Lesson Learned: Make damn sure that you will not regret selling a gun before you go through with the sale.

Sure sell it to buy another gun that you will shoot. If you don;t shoot it,what good is it sitting around? none.

You didn't know that the 6601's were recalled....
 Colt only did this for a limited time, but it is imperitive that you get rid of that rifle. Luckily, I am certified to take this defective equipment off of your hands. Send it to me and I will be nice and not charge you the disposal fee. You better hurry though, others may not give you such a break.  ktm500 |

As a north Georgian I support your reasoning for wanting to sell the rifle. I would like to also get into the service rifle competitions, but there aren't any ranges for hours around that have 600 yard ranges. All the WMA ranges are 100yards. River Bend near me I believe is only 300yard normally and you are not allowed a guest every time you go
 .Normally I don't recommend selling. If you can sell it for what you paid or a little less to get something you can use then go for it. |

I used to be one of those "I'll never sell a gun" guys until I realized I had a LOT of rifles just sitting around that I never, ever shot. Many I didn't even have ammo for them. I say sell it ONLY if you will use 100% of the money to buy a firearm you will use.

If you were to sell it, what leads you to believe you would shoot the FAL or M1a any more than you shoot this one. I second the garand idea. CMP lets your government work for you. Even with restocking it, mine was still about $350 for a greek rack grade that shoots very straight and cleaned up rather nicely. This option would allow you to get both.

you said among your AR's? that means you have more than one AR15 style rifle, I would SELL the COLT MT6601 and get something you will make better use of, having a gun you dont use is a waste of money.

selling your AR is like selling your kids, dont do it. let it sit, buy what gun you want, also if the gun not in your name I think it a big mistake to get rid of it

My $0.02, selling an AR to buy an M1A is an acceptable as long as you maintain some 5.56 caliber weapon. I've never been fond of H-BAR configuration ARs, tackdrivers they are.

i have more ARs than i have hands to hold them (feet too) and thats the problem. my M4gery and A4gery always go to the range while the MT 6601 sits home. just not worth dragging out to the 100yd WMA range. thanks for the input guys. ill try an add in the EE.

Sell it. In my opinion, there's nothing strange or out of the ordinary about an accurate AR15. Unless you have some love for the Colt brand, there's no reason to hold onto it. You can build a DCM legal gun for under $800 with NM sights, SS heavy barrel, target trigger and the works. It will definitely outshoot your Colt.
I'd take the $1000 and invest it in a Garand and maybe use the rest towards the DCM gun. You might run $200 over, but who cares? |
