NW FL is getting ready in case it decides to do an Andrew and go into the Gulf to refuel after finishing with you guys. Already have my supplies and 2 full tanks of gas (thanks to the end of the 8 cent tax holiday on gas). Guess I'll shoot my regularly scheduled rifle match on Sat morning, go to the beach in the afternoon and then watch the weather and see what fortune lies ahead.

A cat4 to cat5 is nothing to jack with. Board it up, take your important papers, firearms and small valuables. Do a walk through with a video camera of the house to document what you have before you leave.

Then get the hell out of there!

My in-laws house is next to Micco, near Sebastion. Hope their insurance is paid up.

Good luck, posterchild.

I haven't repaired all the damage to the house yet. Not to mention outbuildings. Dammit I don't need another one!

I don't like my house that much anyway...But I sure like the stuff inside it!

Do you like it enough to risk your life for it?

Having been through a few, the North and especially East are the worst sides. The hurricane force winds are the size of Puerto Rico and the tropical storm force winds could encompass the entire island of Haiti/Dominican Republic.

Couldn't even imagine living somewhere where there is no escape.

[jinxed] Yep, me too, because hurricanes never hit Georgia - especially not sweet Savannah.  [jinxed]

You should buy a chainsaw and some gas. Then when it is passed, you can go around and charge people $10,000 to remove trees from their homes.

(j/k)

Good luck and keep safe.

Be careful about relying on the map posted at the top of this thread.

Since it is not a direct link to the National Hurricane Center it will not automatically update.

Automatic updated maps are posted in the Frances thread on the Florida Hometown forum.

New maps every 6 hours 1100 , 1700, 2300, and 0500.
