Ok we're pretty sure we identified the problem with the router and resolved it. We'll still continue to monitor things during the day and evening in order to ensure things are clear.
We do not think it was an attack on the router, but a problem caused by an internal server. That server has been shut down for the time being and will be taken out of the network room for evaluation. It's actually one of the older servers and a new server was just ordered to replace it, so it wont be going back in. We expect the new server to be ready in a week or two.
We can't say with certainty that this was the problem, but we're pretty sure it was a large part of it and as we watch the network tonight, we'll have abetter understanding of what was going on.
