This happened to a friend of mine. Contact local police internet crimes division (yes it really exists) If a death threat was actually made, they will sopena the logs of the board, then contact internet crimes in resident city of threat maker. Typically will be charged with Terrositic Threat.

It just happened on another board, the guy snapped. He has been a volatile poster for some time, he actually threatened to have someone kill me. Not once but twice. I had enough of it. Need advice. |

I am fairly certain that the FHP has an internet crimes division. Most local (smaller PDs) do not have such a div unless you live in a larger metro area.

Its not like the cops will actually protect from harm but they can put his ass in jail for awhile. Of course, he comes out in a very short span and is even madder.

Never take a death threat lightly. Someone has to be unbalanced to threaten another in that manner. They show a total lack of knowledge for the law as well as overt cowardice which makes them unstable and dangerous.
Death is a serious thing and a real man doesn't threaten you before he kills you but does it. In this case, he's threatening the hiring of it done which is the MO of a coward, thus I would report his ass and watch my six. Tj |

I had some wacky liberal girl threaten to have me killed, she actually posted on one of the DU type boards that she was going to have her friends in one of those anarchist groups slit my throat. I certainly did not think it was serious at all, I really didn't think some California anarchists were up for travelling cross country to tangle with some "gun nut" one on one who didn't have to put up with their crap like the cops do.
About a month later someone sent me a link that she'd been arrested-she and her brother had been vandalizing some billboards painted on tractor trailers at a construction site near their home (of course as useless liberals they were both adults still living at home sucking off their parent's teats). Apparently they had been doing it for months. The owner caught them in the act and they started to scuffle with him so he pulled a gun to keep them there until the police got there-of course being southern California all three of them got arrested. (and when she posted about it the other liberals sympathized with her because someone whose shit she was wrecking had the nerve to pull a gun on her to make her stop  )I honestly never thought of contacting the police about this nitwit, maybe I should've. |

I'd call the authorities simply to stick it to them as much as possible, but frankly don't think much about that sort of threat.
First of all, everyone's a fuckin' tough guy on the internet, this site has shown that as much as any. Just talkin' the truth. When push comes to shove, 99.9% would take things for what they are, which is potentially quite dangerous to seek someone out that just might blow your fuckin' head off if you threaten them. Just not worth it. Second, how the hell would they even find you? You're a screen name on a message board...the end. Not really a treasure trove of personal info. Still, rather annoying to think of some jerk-off threatening your life from the comfort of their home, and thinking they can get away with it. It's more a matter of principle than safety, but still well worth trying to stick it to'em all the same. |
