Liked it a lot when I was younger, then I stopped smoking pot & I got a job. Now it's just pretty good music, not mind expanding or anything, though I do like Gilmore.
BTW, you guys do realize that Waters is a socialist right? |

When the album came out, I heard a radio interview with Waters where he explained the thought process of the album.
The mother / school part was from a friend who kept complaining to Waters about his over-bearing mother. The hotel / being sick / concert thing was when he was on a prior tour (animals or Wish you were here: don't remember), and he got really sick. A doctor gave him a shot so he could get through that evening's show, but the shot made it worse. He said that concert had the feeling of a Nurenburg rally, and he could tell the crowd to do something,,, anything,, and they would. He talked about how there was one kid in the front row, and Waters gave him the finger motion to come closer, and when the kid did, Waters spit on him. It was strange listening to it. BTW, Without anyone doing a google search, or getting the album out,, can anyone answer who played the groupie in the hotel room? At the time, I thought it strange to hear it was her, given the kind of music she was putting out at the time. "Wanna take a bath?" Jay |

I have seen the movie about 100 times! Every weekend when I was a teenager we would go
see it at the midnight movies to wrap up our night. Then had it on VHS during college.

This lyric from "Have a cigar" comes from the the band's distaste for Music Labels whose big wigs they would meet would say shit like "Your stuff is great" but didn't even know the names of the guys in the band. The record execs would think "Pink" was a band member. The name was taken from one of Syd Barret's recordings with blues players Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. |

Some music in particular stirs deep emotions and thoughts in people. Pink Floyd seems to have that effect on a great deal of people that really listen to it. Much more deep as you put it than say the Back Street Boys, wouldn't you say??? |

I had a friend at college take 2 hits of acid and watch "Apocalypse Now" He just sat and didn't move the whole movie. He was 6'-4" 225 lbs shotputter. He did look at one asian person a little funny on the way out of the movie........ |
